Some videos of my 4x4 at the track

Some videos from last night's practice. In the first one I held the camera and drove so it took me a lap to get used to it.

I know there is a videos thread but I have had more than a few people ask how my setup is doing....enjoy.

LOL! I drove away though and he didnt

This is the last video from last night. IMO, the best of the night as it shows how my truck fairs up against a few buggies. I don't know if I'm a better driver than the buggy guys or my truck is up to comparing it to a buggy. That rythem section was kicking every one but though!

Thanks guys! You can see why I only run my truck at the track. I'm fortunate enough to have 4 top notch tracks with in a 1/2 hour drive from my house. This is the biggest one though and the only outdoor one that I go to.

kga943, that track is open Sun, Tues, Thurs, for practice and racing on Saturday. The owner is super cool. I talked to him yesterday about getting an 4wd SCT class going there and he told me that if I could at least bring 4 guys he would make a class for us on Saturday, and let us race for free.

Makes me wanna fly out to Cali and join ya! Afraid it's not in the 'budget' right now though. Too much going on with my business at the moment (and too little $ in the bank). If I were in the area I would definitely come join ya though!

I am heading out there tonight....the track is really similar dirt and configuration to the Milestone SC track from last weekend.....

Hey rlopez, how is your truck set up? I know you have the 8 shocks on it but what oil are you running in your diffs and what positions are you running on your upper links? Sway bars?

You going tonight? What time? I was planning on going out again if it doesn't rain.

Thanks for the good words guys. I really love driving this truck. I think with more practice at this track I will get the setup and track layout down and make the truck look even better out there. My center diff should be here today and I hope to have it installed for my track outing tonight. I hope to get rid of some of that "squirlyness and push" the truck has through the turns with the slipper.

Ok, I'll break down my setup

    MMM 2200 @ 80% throttle on 4S
    18/54 gearing
Losi 8B front shocks at all 4 corners
    Silver springs all around(4.4)
40wt oil in all 4, though I'm trying 45 in the rear tonight
    No shock preload in front
12mm shock preload in the rear
Stock diff fluid in the front
10K diff fluid in the rear(helps with forward traction on loose surfaces)
2* negative camber in the front
3* negative camber in the rear
1.5* toe out in the front
RTR toe blocks in the rear(2*)
    No sway bars
    No center diff
Front shocks-#2 on tower, #3 on arm
Rear shocks-#2 on tower, #2 on arm
4S LiPo mounted towards the rear
Links are all in the stock locations
Arms are level front and rear at normal ride height
Ride height is 28mm all around

When My center diff comes, I plan on running 5F, 7C, 3R in the diffs.

I hope that helps some of you!!

I will be out there around 5. I'll keep a lookout for you. Nice, thanks for the setup notes. I tried changing too many things at once and it killed the handling so I am back to square one.

As of right now I am running the following....

    CC Sidewinder, VXL Motor
    15/54 gearing
    RTR shocks with metal caps
Traxxas red springs all around (maybe 2.9...who knows)
60wt oil in all 4, but with rpm yellow pistons (essentially 40wt compression and 30wt rebound)
15k diff fluid in the front
    50k in the center
5K diff fluid in the rear
2* negative camber in the front and rear
1.5* toe out in the front
RTR toe blocks in the rear(2*)
No sway bars (gonna try them tonight)
Front shocks-far outside on tower, far outside on arm
Rear shocks-far outside on tower, far outside on arm
2S LiPo mounted towards the rear
Links are all in the stock locations
Arms are level front and rear at normal ride height

951prerun, that setup looks like it should work well.

There is another guy, from another forum, that I know that should be there around the time as you. I usually go later in the evening because of my wife's working arrangement, but I'll tray and make it earlier so I can run with you guys.

I got my center diff installed and the rear and front filled as well.

10K front, 7K center, and 3K rear. It should steer waaay better now!!

Traxxas and other manufactures add a 0 in there for some reason. 100K would be the equivalent of diff lock putty. 10K can barely be pressed out of the bottle

I use Losi oils which come in increments of 1000, not 100K.

I use losi diff fluid on my 8ights and traxxas, trust me when they say 100k it's not a fudged #, you have to spoon that stuff out.
I love you MAN! Need a hug?

I noticed that when I opened up all the diffs they were only 1/2 full, or 1/2 empty depending on what mood your in. Any one else notice this?
