I just got mine! I will try to cut it and mount it tonight. I plain on keeping mine clear anyway. It looks nice, but they skimped on the velcro (2 very small pieces). Not sure where i want to put the velcro, front/back or side/side?

Mine showed up today. It looks like after it is cut it will seal the entire chassis except for the very rear. That should help vent and still not let rocks in.
Matt
mine is here and trimmed, painted yellow and drying...
I think this is going to be slick....I am going to like this thing on my basher too if i decide to hit some water with my MMM set up....

I am still waiting on mine.
Any chance we could get some pics of trimming, vents, airflow thoughts now that some of you have them?
I am wanting to run 3 cells on my PE but a lil concerned about airflow with these covers?

Had a baby yesterday, so I am a little tied up for the next few days...
the vents are not trimmed out. I dont know how to compare because I am going to be running a 2650 on 2S, so by design I don't have heat issues but I certainly will report back once I use it next Thur.

Hey milkman, No problem.
Enjoy that little one for sure. And try to get some sleep when you can...hehe

I have a feeling that if you cut the reverse vents out and mesh those holes, the forward motion of the car wil create a suction of air from those vents. If there are other holes, say the very center front along with maybe vented sides also meshed, for the air to get in, you would actually have pretty decent and even possibly controlled airflow to proper places.
Or maybe I am just dreaming...lol
It is all fun, though.

yes it is velcro.

the last cover i bought like this was for an hpi rs4 rally and it was held to the bottom tray with velcro

I like noll1's cover, but heat will be the issue. Doesn't look to have ever been run based on the pic.
Congrats milkman!
Actually kingsxjt you are correct i have not been able to run mine much since we had a passing in the family and ive been dealing with a funeral. But It is a breathable material and I do have a fan on the esc. I did some short runs on the snow covered lawn on 2s for about 10 minutes after i made this and temps on both the esc and motor were only about 85-95. I dont have a lid yet so thats the other reason I havent run much. I need to order one up asap/.

thanks for the congrats!
I am anxious to try it out. I will hopefully post some pics later today if I have time.
I just came in from digging out 27 inches of snow at my house. I needed to clear a path to get the baby home later!

It might work well with vent holes in the front then cut a hole in the rear and mount a fan blowing up (sucking air out). That would draw cool air over the motor and esc. That might make it cooler than with no cover at all. Just like a PC that runs hotter with the covers off.Originally Posted by trixter23

^ Where would you mount the fan in that scenario?
What is a good fan/heatsink to mount on the motor? I think that is more important than the fan on the ESC, because my motor gets hotter than the ESC, although not above 140-150 after racing.

has anyone taken pics of theirs yet?

Just curious as this was an upgrade I wanted to make at some point.

Has anyone had problems with over heating? I ran mine with the cover on today with a 3s battery. I didn't have a temp gauge but the motor was pretty hot to the touch, esc was warm as well. I'll have to get a temp gauge because I'm worried now that I'm going to burn up the electronics, but the cover did a nice job of keeping all the sand out of the chassis.
by velcro. just read the postI thought about getting the J concepts but decided to hold off until the brave ones try it out first. Heres my home-made cover I used a backpack i had from work and hot glued velcro to the edges. Seems to work well so far.
Has anyone tried it with a 4S battery? Wondering if there is enough clearance.
