that should block lots of things out!!! i wish they would make it for other trucks also like e-revo!!!

honestly i would say that a "undertray" would be more useful as it would protect the center drive shaft. i wonder if you can use them both at the same time??...
Blocks debris out, but traps heat in. It looks almost too low profile. Vents cut into an overtray that sits that low would surely allow debris in, which negates the whole purpose of the tray in the first place.
Turbo in the front, groceries in the back.
It has places on it to cut out for ventilation and whatnot I'm sure that and a heat sink and fan would be ok. we will see....Originally Posted by bandit
All you have to do is trim louvers over the motor and ESC and heat wouldn't be an issue. then you also get the benefit of the inside of your chassis staying clean!Originally Posted by bandit

I just ordered one too....
I am not worried about heat with my 2650/MMM!!!!
Three Summits
I'd hold off on buying one until we hear the verdict on heat issues.
JESUS says: "Fix it B4 it Breaks!"
I have the slash 2x4 over tray and it works nicely at keeping the dirt out, I only race so driving time and heat isn't that big an issue with it being winter. Although I did burn through a 2s 4500mah lipo which was about 16 to 18 minutes and motor/esc was hot, I am not so worried because I expect to replace the motor/esc before summer.
If it doesn't introduce any heat problems it's the best product ever!!![]()
I'll be waiting until i read some reports that it doesn't until i buy mine though.
50 char sig is not enough!
How big of a pain is it to deal with when hooking up batteries, switching the ESC on/off etc?Originally Posted by fsracer

i'll wait for you guys to test it out before i get minei dont want to overheat the truck bashing! i really do need something like this though, since at the moment im getting so much debris in the chassis and driveline i have to stop every 5 min. it takes me 30+ minutes to drain a 15 minute battery.

I'm just going to use it as a body. Kidding...
Ordered last night right after the release went out!
The #1 Traxxas RC fan, 12 years & counting!
Looks good... what's the price?
As posted above though... wouldn't it get hot?

Yeah...All you need to do is cut out the reverse vents for cooling!

I do not thing much would get into those rearward facing vents. If you are worried about it, you could always Goop some mesh in the open areas.

I'm in
If they would just make SC Truck bodies with inner fender wells we could just do away with most of the mess. *hint hint*
If anyone is running 11.1V batteries they will find the motor is going to over heat. After about 15-20 minutes of track running on 11.1V without a cover it is at 200* F. With that thing on my motor probably would have been at 230*.
At least they are trying..
A couple of vents cut into the back sides of those louvers isn't going to do enough to pull out the heat generated on a fast truck.
Turbo in the front, groceries in the back.
So what I'm planning on doing when i get mine is cutting an intake hole in the first louver, glueing a mesh screen behind that, then cutting out vents on the back of the other two louvers.
Whether that will be enough to keep things cool, i don't know, but if it does, this will be such a great addition to my slash.
Got a shipping notice from Jconcepts that it went out this morning. I already have a fan on the motor so I think the vents will be enough to keep some air circulating through...... especially for a properly geared setup.

Mine shipped this morning as well

The cao itself covered all but the antennae, and the hole beteween the brim and the chassis itslef let air flow through. Overall, i say do what i did, baseball cap and ducktape!!!! (although thats how we rednecks do it XD )
Slayer, Slash 4x4 (MMM/2650kv), & a Summit
Mine has shipped as well.
I can see longer runs on 11.1V being a problem, but heat is a problem even without the cover on a 3S lipo. I never use anything over a 2S lipo in mine on any track and never seen anything over 130, so after cutting out some louvers I should be fine.
Make sure everyone posts pics once theirs comes in so we can see how it looks.

I thought about getting the J concepts but decided to hold off until the brave ones try it out first. Heres my home-made cover I used a backpack i had from work and hot glued velcro to the edges. Seems to work well so far.
