Wink Just ordered 1/16 Brushless Slash for tower

Well I have been out of the RC game for about 6-7 years now....I still have 2 T-Maxx nitros that I bought 8 years ago .....they need to be serviced as either start... .

I am excited to see electric RC cars as fast and as powerful as nitro. This is my first Electric RC Car and after a week of combing the web for info the Slash seems to be a favorite amongst alot or fans.

I look forward to trying this sucker out. I hope I have everything.....any quick tips?

Looks like you've got the basics covered but as you probably know from experience, there will be a LOT of hop-ups coming in the near future for ya. I didn't have the funds to go brushless, but just got a pair of brushed Slash's about a month ago and I asked pretty much the same question. The popular response (other than a lot of preaching about lipo) was just have fun with it out of the box and worry about parts etc when you need them. About the only thing I would suggest is pick up some shock oil if you don't have any on hand as it seems the majority are low on oil right out of the box. Otherwise, have fun!

Thanks...wow you been a member longer than me....lol

Yeah I read about the LIPO conversion and it seems expensive and something I am not really looking into. I am a casual guy who like to take em out from time to time and have fun. The Nitro was just too much work. I am hoping the Electric is a bit easier to maintain. More driving and less tweaking. I have some shock oil...but **** its probably 7 years old.

This is enough money to spend for a while.....I am saving for an engagement ring....ugh!

I have the slash vxl, and converted it to the brushed version so I could race in the stock class at a LHS. The brusless version with the standard battery pack is way fast! I think everyone goes over kill when they purchase all of the lipos and the extras. The brushless version with the standard battery is wicked fast and hard to control!

Question. I received my Slash tonite. Charged up the battery and took it for a quick spin around the house. 5 mins max. I noticed a high pitched noise when first accelerating. Is this normal?? The car was silent after the initial launch but just when you first hit the Throttle I hear a high pitched noise. Sounds like something engaging.

Car is wayyyyy to fast for inside. Yikes. Cant wait to take it out this weekend!

Isnt the EZpeak charger set at 4 amps ?

May be a bit too much for the small packs as they should be charged at 1.3 amps or so

    Cheers

yea it charges at 4 amps way to much for them batteries you might could get away with it if you charge them together in parallel.

I actually held back this time. Just picked up the Traxxas trx power charger. I am going to sell the EZ Peak charger on Ebay.

Not ready for LIPO yet...maybe in the summer.

I have the onyx 230 and its a good charger. It will do Lipo if you decide to get them. If you get Lipos you will need a balancer.

The manual mentions that the slipper will emit a high pitched noise if slipping, or something like that.

Mine makes a high-ish pitch noise, but I'm not overly concerned with it.

Ok....Someone mentioned installing the highspeed gear and that might get rid of it.

It is a little disturbing for a brand new truck

    I wouldn't worry about it.

I would immediately invest in some aluminum steering knuckles. I broke at least 2 each time I drove the truck.

Ordered Black and Tan Springs along with some 50wt Shock Oil. Oh lord what have I started.

Anyway....after doing many searches it seems like this is a very popular setup for better handling and less rollovers. I don't want to be flipping the truck over alot. I will mostly be doing dirt/pavement bashing. I don't send the truck 30 feet in the air....

This forum is great and terrible......truck is brand new and I am already changing parts!

The best thing you can do is lower the truck using 5mm limiters in the shocks with double black or double tan springs. Im running 70 wt oil with the limiters and heavier springs and my truck rarely flips now. Its slides a lot more
