rpm true track, anybody using them

Really wanted to get the rpm true tracks and black aluminum turnbuckles for the front, but it doesn't seem like most like the true tracks. Looks like most end up going back to stock after trying them out for a while. I think they would be great for not having to worry about trying to adjust camber/toe for the rear. So what's the verdict, are they pretty not worth it and i should just stick to the stock setup. Trying to decide tonight, gonna order the black toe links and true tracks, or just get black toe links all around. Hopefully someone that has been running them for a while will chime in

i hear a lot saying they vibrate at high speeds. Is this true? I mostly run my truck on pavement down the neighborhood street in front of my house. Don't really plan on doin any insane runs of 70mph+ or anything, at 6s i think it's runnin about 50 or so right now. I don't plan on racing at all, but thought they would work good for me, just can't decide

I have them and would never go back. I have no vibration issues and a lot of my use is the same as yours, driving up and down the street and i'm also geared for right around 50mph on 6s right now. Only bad thing I've heard is that the bearings that come with the kit aren't the greatest quality and won't last long. I wouldn't know as I installed ceramic bearings from the start.

You need rear toe-in for any RC Vehicle that wants to go fast, that is why Traxxas has rear toe-in on the Jato 3.3, 4-Tec 3.3, Rustle & Bandit VXL from the factory, because otherwise the truck would be very unstable at high speeds with no rear toe-in. I took off my RPM TRU-TRAC'S because I wanted to run the TEKNO AXLE CARRIERS/BLOCKS due to the fact that they are VERY, VERY DURABLe & WELL BUILT, so I now have TEKNO'S AXLE CARRIERS on the front & rear and set my own rear toe-in at -1 degrees on each side.

The True Tracks have 3 degrees of rear toe-in. (1.5 degrees on each side) The differnece is it's fixed instead of adjustable which is why most people go that route... One less thing to constantly have to adjust.

I love my true tracks at first I wasn't a fan because I couldn't run 8mm stub axles. the the truetracks use a 15mm OD bearing instead of a 16mm, I've since found some 15x8mm bearings ( a little on the pricey side at 9$ a bearing but its worth it imo. )

well, i ended up ordering 2 sets of black aluminum tie rod/turnbuckles from tower last night instead of the truetracks bc i have read a few bad reviews on them. But if u guys think they work pretty good i think i'm gonna try them out. Just called my lhs and they have them in stock, so gonna pick up tomorrow. Guess i'll just have an extra set of tie rods that i ordered if i ever go back to stock setup

Yes they work fine with stock axels. They are BEST for bashing in my view. At high speeds they vibrate some. In bashing they flex much. So you dont snap or crack um. A jaggesd rock will almost saw through the stock arms, but on the RPMs it will just slide over.

i absolutely love mine. i am strictly a basher so i will never go back to stock arms. i have had many run ins with rocks and other sharp objects, such as the metal edge of a quarterpipe. they show signs of wear but are not even close to breaking. i suggest them for any offroad basher.

I really like my tru-tracks and hope to not need more toe-in for racing season. I wish RPM offered different toe-in options or an adjustable like the HotRacing set but only drawback is it's aluminum.

I have to phone rpm, my bearings on the inside fell right in, lot's of slop in mine, brand new, i am sure they will get me a new set sent. Hope so anyways. Can't run it like that. The bearings should be a press in fit.

So where is the cheapest place to buy them? $50 is just ridiculous for piecesof plastic, some bearings, and screws.

    This is a decent price:

Not sure on shipping cost, but I'm guessing around $7.00.

And these guys ship as fast as anyone....

Do update us on this. I have the same problem with mine and after reading around forums I found this to be quote common. If RPM does infact recognize this as a defect (which I believe it to be) it would be good info to have and I'll be placing a call myself. Though I did find that after tightening everything down, the slop didn't appear to be much more than the stock setup. Still, I'd prefer a tighter tolerance.

Most just put a dab of CA or superglue to hold the bearing into the carrier, i've never heard of RPM replacing them due to this issue.

Dont go overboard as you want to be able to remove them when the bearings require replacing.

Dshaffer, make sure you screw the top pillow ball all the way in and then back the bottom one out to adjust camber. For 1 deg neg you should barely see a full turn of thread exposed out the end of the arm.

Is this correct?? The true track can not be used with the 120mm long travel?? You use it with the stock 90mm.

Straight from RPM's site: "These kits will not work in conjunction with Traxxas (#5356) 120-LT Long Travel Rockers."
