Broken supsension pins
Yesterday we were out running at the local ice rink... There is a small mound at one end to keep the water in when they flood. I jumped about 2 feet off this and cartwheeled for 10 more feet. The rear axle carrier that I had superglued back together from a previous break let go again and ended the session. I had already gotten another plastic axle carrier and replaced it in short order. On the next run, I found the truck would not steer left at all.
Come to find out, the left front upper control arm pin had sheered off the last 1/4" or so and the loose end backed its way out to interefere with the steering linkage. After removing the pin I was a little shocked to discover they are cast. Obviously this is a cost saving move for Traxxas, as the raw materials are cheaper than steel billets and the machining is more extensive given the threaded portion that is a larger diameter than the pin.
My question is this: Will the stainless steel pin set (4939X) fit with the stock plastic components? I do eventually plan to upgrade to aluminum bulkheads and control arms which requires their use anyway, but not until they break.
