    EVX2 problem?

Hi I’m having trouble with my EVX2 in my summit. When I plug in a fresh set of batters Every thin light up. I can move all of the servos but the led on the speede just flashes red. It will be green for just a second then it will flash red. It flashes in sequence like it is a code. It will flash once pause twice pause and then three times and pause then stars again.

Can anyone tell me what it is doing.? I have had the truck a couple of month now but it has hardly been used cause when I got it my work wouldn’t allow me any time to play. Now I have time but still can’t.

How long are you holding down the button?

It sounds like the ESC is entering the mode to set the driving profile.

It goes in it by its self. Don’t do and can’t do anything. That is all it will do. Traxxas support sad it might be stuck and to send it back. But it is out of warranty and I guess it will cost more than I could replace it for. I seen one on eBay for $80US so I just wounded what it is doing or is it bugged. I’ll try to work out if it is in set up mode than. I don’t understand it really when I put it away it was fine and now it is doing this. As I sad it just goes straight in to this mode when I hock up the batteries.

Thanks I’ll have a look in the morning and try to work it out.

I just had a look at the vid and what the speede is doing is like the mode setup but I can’t stop it from cycling through them and I don’t hold the button for that long I don’t even need to touch it, it just starts doing that when I hock up the packs.

    Dodgy esc?

Hi, how long have you had the truck? If less than 30 days traxxas will replace it,if you've not been fiddling inside. If not I'm sure they do a 1/2 price replacement service,if you send the old one back to them .Try emailing them.

In the original post he said he's had in a couple of months.

Since he knows how setting the ESC works, my guess is it's toast.

Traxxas will replace electronics for half price. Lifetime warranty they're a great service company, they stand behind their products.

Ok, I too bought a summit. I managed to play with it for about 10 minutes. Then, dead. So with batteries, etc. I was into it for $670 and only 10 minutes play time after waiting 2 hrs for batteries to charge. RIGHT ON! This is gonna be GREAT!

Anyway, go to the LHS the next morning. They monkey with the esc and receiver. Same problems. Same solution. Pull the steering servo leads one at a time. The first one (right servo) was the culprit. They swapped it out and everything has been fine since. Just to be safe, I bought an extra servo for my hobby box.

Scenario was the same. esc would power up, would reset with the remote per the manual, would go into all three modes. Steering would act like a dead battery and there was no power to the motor. So if you get this situation, start by pulling one of the steering servo leads. If that doesn't work, try the other one.

My stock replacement servo was $39. The one they installed into the summit was a free swap though.

    now my summit ROCKS!

I got it going again. The set button was stuck.

This will void your warranty. Mine was out of warranty any way.
I pulled the cover off the speedy and wiggled the button that is under the one you press to turn it on. Mine had a lot of dust under there so with a bit of a clean out it is all working again

Year I thought the same but the set button is exposed only the sericite board is sealed. I guess the button is to but it has a metal housing around it and that must have been where the dirt was. I guess if you run in water a lot it wouldn’t happen. All I know is it is working again. Traxxas support sad it might be stuck and that was what it seemed to be. Saved me sending it back though.

I know this is an old thread but I am having the same problem as mentioned. Mine is out of warranty too. I figured the on/off button was sticking so I tried to pull the esc apart to clean it. I cant get it apart. How did you get it apart?

Hi Sorry for the late reply. It is tricky to get off. There are little tabs around the casing you need to lift the tabs over the catches. I poked s small screw driver under them. You may need to leave something in between the tab and catch until you have enough of them open to get the case of.
