TQ 2.4ghz Traxxas link, Is It That Good?

    hi,
i took a trip over here from the rustler and bandit forum
because your the only guys i know of who would have the 'tq 2.4'
well the one with the traxxas link, anyway
    so is it that good?
i am considering getting one for my rustler
or is there any other ones that are 2.4ghz
    that u would recommend
but it has to be quite cheap and
has decent model memory like 3+
i know i am asking for alot

    thanks in advance

I have only used the Traxxas Link that came with the new slash for a little bit outside and it is very nice. It has plenty of model memory (20 I believe, if you wanted to get more receivers), and very good range with no glitches. It has a lot of features that I may use later. The only problem is the price is around $130 I believe if you buy it separately.

If you want a cheaper 2.4ghz I also have the Tactic 2.4 ghz for my Rustler and it works very well too. No problems, excellent range, but it can only handle a 2 model memory if you get one more receiver. The cost of the Tactic is $80. This is a very good alternative if you aren't willing to spend over $100. Much similar to the Traxxas but not as many features or model memory.

These would be my two opinions, it just depends on your price range. If you really need the extra model memory, go with the Traxxas, but if you really just want a basic cheap 2.4ghz system (which is why I got it for the Rustler before the Traxxas 2.4 system came out) you will not be disappointed in the Tactic.

cheap = http://www.rufaster.com/redcatracing...dreceiver.aspx you can buy 3 for the price of 1 TRX. I got 1 for my sons E-revo, no chance to run it yet, but will have an opinion soon.

IMO if you want a good radio with options the Futaba http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXXMV5&P=7 or Spektrum https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...ns&pn=SPM20310 radios are a better choice. The Spektrum should have a descent MG servo with it.

It's the end point adjustments that has me excited about this radio. Tower has them listed for 85ish for the 2channel transmitter.

    if you want a great radio...buy the Airtronics MX-Sport. it's $100

Airtronics also has great Customer Service!! I got a call from them saying my M11 was repaired..I asked them for some stickers after I paid and they sent me out some when they shipped my TX out..cost me $35 to repair my M11..it's their flagship radio...awesome radio i'll never get rid of it

The Airtronics MX Sport has MANY useful features incredible range and model memory...among many other things

I just saw the HO 2ch radio system on Stormer for 79 bucks. If this is the case, once they hit ebay you should be able to get them for less. I'm thinking 50 or so.

Interesting that they are as cheap or chaper than the "old" 2.4 models. But they're not in stock ATM in any case.

The original question "Is it that good?" It is fairly cheap in comparison to other 2.4g systems. Read all the features and decide for yourself. They had me at end point setting! But there are more features than that. One feature it has is the ability to hand someone your car and let them drive it with thier radio while you use your radio on another car. Since I have multiple cars and multiple drivers I like this feature also. Look at the features on those other systems and see if they are what you want. I didn't like the original Traxxas 2.4g radio but the Link one has the features I want.

So i tried switching between my two trucks this evening to see what it would do. I traded with a kid for his link out of his 4x4 to put into my 2wd slash. What i thought was funny, was that it would link right up quick with the 2wd slash, but with the 4x4, that it originally was bound to, it would take from 5 to 30 seconds. One time it wouldn't bind up at all, so i took it apart and was going to try to bind it again and as soon as the cover was off, the light turned green. Other than the slow link up, i really like it. I've always loved how it feels in my hand.
