    Broken Bumper Mount.....What To Do?

I was practicing my jumping skills yesterday. The only way to get good is to just do it, but sometimes there's consequences.

I broke the mount for the rear bumper of my Summit....

I was thinking about trying to repair it, maybe with a flat piece of metal and a screw on both sides of the crack. I'm not sure how strong that would be, though.

Has anyone else broken this part? If so, what was your solution? I could just replace it with a new one, that's no problem. Just wondering if anyone has done their own repair.

Yep little piece of metal and screws or ca glue and zap straps.I've heard of boiling them for a bit to make them more flexable, havn't tried it though. There cheap at least and easy to change.Thats exactly where mine broke.

    Thanks for the replies, guys!

I will probably just pick up a new one, but I still have the urge to rig up the broken one in the mean time. I'll post pics when I do.

I'm getting better at jumping - knowing when to apply throttle or brake in midair to get her to land on all-fours. But it won't hurt to have a spare one handy.

Again, thanks to you guys for replying.

I do have another question, though.

Looking at my parts list, the part number I see for this bumper mount is #5636.
But this includes the rear bumper itself, which I do not need.
A link to what's included with this part number: http://www.rcplanet.com/Traxxas_Bump..._p/tra5636.htm

Am I missing something, or is the part I need not available by itself? If it is, does anyone know the part number for it?

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not too thrilled to hear that you can't buy the mounts individually, but for $7, I guess I won't complain. My rear bumper is pretty scraped up anyway.

But that leads me to another question. Can the existing LED tail lights be used on a new bumper? If so, hard is it to remount them on a new bumper? I haven't inspected how the lights attach to the bumper too closely, and I have no idea how to remove them from the bumper.

If you go get parts make sure the bumper is for the summit.Like i said i got the revo kit, revo bumper useless. The lights are a bit of a pain, but ya there just two clips per bulb.Be gentle i've had to replace rear lights.Good/bad crash broke the wires off at the bulb.Couldn't solder them back on

Thanks. How did you end up with the Revo bumper? Does it have the same part # or something? I think I will go to the LHS for this, so I can actually see it for myself before I buy it.

And hopefully I won't have to change those lights anytime soon.....

I think it was all they had at the time.,Of course i didn't look real close. The part that broke is the same or real close to the the revo thats why the revo bumper.Part # are prob different i never checked. But it fits fine a tiny bit smaller maybe but it's still in one piece.Plus the hoop makes a good place to carry it.I fixed mine with metal strip and screws it made it a little painful to carry that way. so i broke down and spent the 10 bucks

I think I am on my 6th front and 3rd rear by now, need to create a polyurethane version that is flexible yet strong.

Someone suggested boiling them for a bit first.Suppose to make them more flexable.I haven't tried it myself yet. at least your using the summit to it's potential. You must be havin fun I'v only gone through one of each.I'm not goin hard enough i guess.Of course now that i said that i'll be breaking them in pairs

Yep that'll snap em.Nice air, landing not so much. but practice means......Bumper mounts .I had mine tumble down a 40 degree rock face about 40 feet.Spectacular/scary $$ at the same time.Broke front mount and little crack in the body.If not for the cage the body would've been destroyed
