anybody tried painting their bed black on the outside of the body

just wondering if anyone has tried this, saw it in the proline how to painting tips. Decided to give it a try on my slipstream body and my stampede body i just painted up. Makes it look a lot more like an actual truck bed. Wanted to do it on my dodge ram body i just painted, but gonna wait and see how it holds up. I guess the only negative would be scratching it with the body clips. Here's the link, it's tip #8

The paint would eventually scratch off IMO. I would just paint the bed inside of the body. If you want a flat black look, just lightly sand the outside of the bed with some very fine sand paper (600+)
    I WILL spank a nitro any day...guaranteed. :)

the bed doesn't really take much abuse though, the only way i could see scratching it off is from the body clips. I think it looks awesome, i'll just have to be a little careful installing/removing the body clips i guess

gonna leave the dodge ram body i just painted alone. I did paint the inside of the bed black on all my bodies, and saw the tip on proline's site so i decided to try it. Kind of wish i wouldn't have done it to my slipstream now.

If you're going to paint the outside of any portion of the body to get a flat look, you should plan to do it ahead of time, and trim the over spray film away from that area, using the rest of the over spray film as masking.

Generally, if you're going for a scale paint job that will sit on the shelf, this isn't a bad trick.

If you're going to actually run the body, pick up some very fine steel wool to dull any area you want to give a flat look, use some good masking tape to protect surrounding areas you want to keep shiny.

i did mask off the entire body but the bed and it worked good with no overspray. The slipstream is kind of my show body, i normally use the stocker for bashing purposes
