    HobbyTown no Slash!!

I ordered and paid for my Slash 4X4 a month ago. Traxxas was supposed to ship them out December 15. But apparently they only shipped out half of each order. So when HobbyTown USA got theirs, they shipped them out to the bigger stores. My local store is smaller, and now they won't get even one untill after Christmas. I am so mad If I knew this would happen, I would have bought somewhere else. Anybody else going thru this?

I checked hobbytown here in springfield mo, and he said he wasn't going to carry the truck. He was happy to order it, but I mostly just wanted to see one in person right now.

I also paid for a 4x4 and ended up canceling it and getting it from superiorhobbies.com, it will be here the 24th. IMO Hobbytown sucks! My local Hobbytown carries nothing! Every time I break a part they say "I can order it" Its a traxxas part, why would you not carry tons of traxxas parts!!!!!!!!!???? I now order everything from Tower! I would rather wait 2-3 days for the part, then give Hobbytown a single dollar!

Well I guess I'm playing the Devil's Advocate, because my local Hobbytown carries a ton of Parts & they called me yesterday because they got in enough Slash4x4's to fill their Pre-Orders and had some more left over to sell. I had put my name on a list to let me know when it came in, so they called and let me know in case I wanted to buy it before they put it out on the shelf. Pretty good service from these guys if you ask me. (I usually drive past 2 other Hobby stores to get to this Hobbytown) I guess it all just depends on the guys working there.

    I'm in Kansas City, MO.

I was in the shop today and he got two calls looking for these trucks in the 10 minutes I was there.

Our local Hobbytown is the place to avoid... overpriced and nothing too great inside either... I have no clue if they will be getting any 4x4 slashs but I know they charge $69 for a part they advertise on their OWN website for $49... crooks...

I just went to superiorhobbies like slash racer suggested and ordered one. Paid a little extra for shipping, but should have it here sometime Thursday. If I had known what I know now, I would have done this differently.

My Hobbytown USA called me yesterday and today to tell me they had some in. I asked how much and they wanted $399.99 for them. I told them I can get it for $340 at tower with the $60 cupon and free shipping. They told me to go for it. They are SSSSOOOOOO overpriced about everything.

Mine also said 2 wks on the plats..

Regular seems good enough to keep people busy for the 2 wks though..hehe

Far as the LHS pricing goes. Some times just have to give them the benifit of a few more bucks. If you don't get any personal service from them well then it isn't worth it. in this case I think mine came through.

If I ordered through tower I'd still be in a line rather..

Our LHS has customer cards as well (which gave me a few bucks off anyway to.) The Plat is comming from tower though..

When is $399.99 way overpriced? That's what they typically sell for. Luckily, Tower members get it cheaper but that's a far cry from way overpriced.

My hobbytown has a lot of parts, but doesnt seem to have many trucks in stock. The people there are very nice though, and for the size of the store they carry a lot.

SF, my local Hobbytown called about the 4x2 slash I had asked about months ago ?!? They held off cause the kits were changing and adding a battery. No date on the 4x4's.

Anyway I like to support my LHS, but there are times that you just can't. I don't know what their margin is, but I can't see how you can sell a 4x4 for $324 shipped. What I typically to is figure the cost + shipping for the internet retailer vs cost + tax for LHS. As long as it's close I'll go to the LHS. A couple times I even gave them a shot to price match and sometimes they beat it and sometimes they get close enough... Then there are times that they're not even close. Bottom line though in this economy I've got to shop for the best deals.

I like supporting my LHS too, but when it comes to batteries, they loose hands down. They had a Venom 5000mAh 7.4 2cell LiPo for $99. I got it for a little cheaper, only to go on Venom's website and find it for under $50 Not real happy. From now on, I buy them online from Hong Kong, 3 at a time and even with the shipping, its a lot cheaper.
