MA Green Series packs for th 1/16th scalers

Hey guys just passing this info on. looks like MaxAmps now has 1/16th scale packs for the mini's. Looks like a great option for those that don't want to deal with exploding NimH packs or those that aren't ready to quite go Li-Po.

I would think because less voltage you'd see a tad slower speeds. But you should be able to gear up a bit to gain some of it back. The whole safe pack thing and really fast charge rates would be great for those that say have a kid that wants to beat on his truck all day.

What about the 3s ones? You could run those in parallel and it would be faster than stock too.

Also, you should be able to run two 2s in series.

Very nice. I wonder if you can charge these 2 batteries on a charger using a paralell adaptor. I know you can with nimh but NOT with lipo.

You cant charge any batteries in parallel

Nimh, Lipo and Life can all be charged in series with precautions

Nimh can. That came straight from MA. Reps name was Jason said it was fine using a parallel connector to charge 2 nimh at a time. Been doing it for weeks now. As for using a series connector never asked that. I will do that now.

Sounds like Jason gave you bad advice

Maybe with the stock charger which is set at 9.0v and 200 mah you could get away with it

Nimh's will not peak correctly or terminate the charge at the correct voltage in parallel on a decent charger (1 pack will be full other may not be)

Even if charging them in series you need evenly matched cells (at same discharge state before starting charge) or you risk damaging them

    Stock charger can't do series

What charger do you use, what size batteries, and what current do you charge them at ?

    Cheers

I just got my New Maxamps life batteries. The 3s was ok not as fast as a 3s lipos. I also ran 2 2s in series which was very fast. But they didn't last very long at all because they are only 1050 mah. They seem to run warmer than my Hyperion lipo batteries. Temp was at 124f at the end of run. I guess the extra .8 volt per cell of the lipos really make a difference in speed.

Anyway, don't really see any advantage with the life over lipo.

I think the only advantage is increased safety..

i'd really like to be able to back maxamps, but their prices are just too far off the wall for me to even consider using their batteries altho i am happy with the 8 free AA batteries i got in the mail a few weeks ago. this week i even got a nice little hand written card from the "sales manager" thanking me for ordering their free batteries. now i feel all guilty for telling them on the phone when i ordered my free AA batteries that i'd never ordered their lipo batteries unless i got a 40% discount.

thanks for the input.. only having 1050mah per pack would give low run times
sounds like a nice 1600Nimh pack could be just as good?
