As many of you know from my infamous "Got My Slash" thread, I'm dropping a 4s 9XL into it, along with some 2.2 Mashers and a motor fan. I got no clue what to gear this beast, and being that 5mm pinions are expensive, i wanna get it right the first time.
What size pinion do you think i should get? I want around 50 mph, mostly driving in a thin grass field. Maybe I should get a really low one for jumps/small spaces.

Anyone know what the final drive ratio is? That would help with suggestions I cant seem to find it. Maybe a traxxas employee can jump in?
The stock spur/pinion ratio is 13/54. You can go as low as 9/58 if the 58 tooth will fit, and no clue how high. I am sure you could get some revo mod 1 gears in there.Last edited by rag6; 11-18-2009 at 10:36 PM.

well i just ordered a 14t (summit) gear for messing around and a 25t for pavement-pounding, both 5mm.

as for ratio, i enter in the revo diffs on the speed calculator, with a tranny ratio of 1 (direct drive)

no, but it will do 38mph on the speed calculator. that is about right

Stock gearing will be very close to the VXL on 2s, but a tad higher in speed on the 9XL..
