Tower Hobbies $60 coupon, free shipping....in state tax. :(

If I were to order from Tower Hobbies and purchase the ~$10 membership and the $60 and free shipping, being in state I'd have to give back 7.75% in tax. Total would come out to ~$371, including my year membership. Not so hot anymore, I'm bummed.

I was excited when Traxxas came out with the Slash, I was thinking if only they came out with a 4wd version. Funny thing, I was at I Hobby a week ago and I completely missed the 4x4 Slash at the Traxxas booth. Wasn't until I came home and looked at the Traxxas brochure that I saw there was a 4x4 version.

Unless your local shop charges retail...which is what I find a LOT of shops do. I understand lower volume= higher markup for them to stay open. BUT especially in these times, people no longer have as much "FUN" money as they used to so when we do decide to make a big purchase (IE Slash 4x4) finding the best price possible is imperative.

Built2Scale: I understand your pain...life long member of the Illinois residents club lol. I skipped out on using a 10 off 25 purchase coupon I had awhile back because after the 7.99 shipping and tax I was paying full price! Plus it was something I did not really need anyway.

Looks like the RRP will probably get my business...unless there is another cheaper place when the stores actually HAVE the trucks and can do super high volumes with less mark up.

Tower Hobbies--- $395 (slash4x4)+10(saver club membership)+$40 (Local sales tax)-$60 (tower coupon)=$385

Or out of staters---$395 (slash 4x4)+$10(saver club membership)+no tax-$60(tower coupon)=$345

P.S. I have discussed this with some of my local hobby shops and although they don't want to miss out on the sale they understand that if I can save $90 I have to do it and I will probably spend that $90 locally on parts,batts etc...(that have a higher profit margin than kits)

I believe not but I'm not sure you could try to use your code to see what happens. Coupons are coming out almost every week now. I'll use a $60 coupon to buy Slash. If I need to buy another Slash I just wait till the next week and use the next $60 Coupon.

usually if you place two orders back to back and use a coupon one each you have to pay shipping on the second order. Really though, if you save $120 in coupons, paying $8.99 for shipping on one order isnt that big of a deal imo.

You could place the orders a day or two apart and not have to pay that I think.

I order from Tower because they are out of state. If I order from A-main or from Traxxaspartshouse, I get taxed. The last site I mentioned is very reliable and they have coupons too, but not as big as Tower when your a member.

Its always nice to not have to pay the Tax when ever possible. Especially on a purchase like this, in this economy.

RPP is awesome! Corey really prides himself on customer service. I used to live about 80 miles from RPP and really miss them since moving!!!

I still order most of my stuff through them even though I live 3000 miles away...lol
