    2S or 3S Lipo?

Looking to help a friend out buying the new 4x4 Slash. Just curious if 3S is going to be too much or not on the track. I currently run a Slash 2wd on 5250mah 2S packs with some aluminum on the truck. I am pretty positive that 3S would be too much on the track in mine but I am nelieve the 4x4 weighs more and will hook up better for obvious reasons. What do you all think for the track (2S or 3S)?

either. 2s should be enough because on a track you generally don't need a lot of speed.

I would start off with 2s for sure.My slash was way fast with 2s and stupid on 3s.Was fun for speed runs with 3s but thats about it.

Or better yet, go with just a 3s, and have all the power you could ever ask for should you choose to squeeze the trigger harder. Seriously, a 1:1 car is capable of accelerating quickly, but you dont go around taking off at full throttle from every stop you make, right? But its still nice to have that power there when you want it, right? Its all in the finger!

+1. with 3s you don't normally need the extra power. but occasionally, you need to press a little harder in tough situations. but 3s is a lot to manage.

i think a 2s would be easier. ur not going to need much more than 35mph at a track.

i say get 2 2s lipos and if there to tame buy a 3s from ********* for cheap.
    rtr slash 4x4
    2s lipo
    some other rc stuff

you obviously haven't seen me drive my 1:1 car.

I don't just put it to the floor... Nope... I have a hole cut in floor. I put the pedal 2 feet past the "floor"... I straighten my leg right out.

Anyone saying 3s obviously doesn't have a clue about racing RC's on a dirt race track... GO w/ 2s w/o a doubt, the only way anyone would even want to consider a 3s setup is if you were to gear it to the absolute min.. you want to be able to reach top speed on the track on the straight and reach it before the mid point so you have a little time at WOT, your ESC runs the coolest when at WOT. Racing 10min or 30min mains you want to control temps as well. Keep in mind the 2s can be geared up a notch too with a brushless it's not like those crappy 12ts on the the slash 2x's. The 3s setup would allow a little more run time when geared down to like a 12t (37mph) and speed would be in check like this but you don't need more run time than a 2s 5k lipo will provide out racing as qualifiers are 5-7min and mains are 10-12min or split into 2 or 3 10min shots. PS the added weight of the 3s lipo could also result in additional breakage.

I failed to mention that I am running a VXL setup on my Slash. Looking like 2S is the way to go which is cool because I already own 4 of them and will be getting myself a 4x4 after awhile. I have a Futaba 2.4ghz with endpoint adjustments and thought I may try 3s on mine and use the EPA to limit the speed.

If you use a 3s and limit it with epa, you are just gunna run it hot. You cant use more than 2s on a dirt track, you will feel fast and you will get waxed by 2wd trucks on 2s. You can always tell the noobs at the track, they will try to run 3s. I can drive, and I cant be consistent on 3s power....its just kinda goofy power at that point. I run my truggy on 5s, but I can use it fully....and I would probably be faster on 4s honestly.

So if Im just running around an old packed sawdust pit with my buddies, on a track we built with a few garden rakes, 2S will be plenty ?

They are running trucks like a team associated 4x4 truck with a 3.0 stock nitro, a nitro stampede, and a revo 3.3

I kinda figured running 3S and restricting it with EPA would make the motor/ESC get hot. I have been running 2S on my 2wd Slash with Revo 3.3's and holding my own on the track.
