What Traxxas Should Have Came Out With!!!

Traxxas, I love your vehicles, but your not covering every section of RC. How many years has it been since the Monster Buggy was discontinued??? That whole time HPI, FG modelsport and a few other companies have had a monopoly over the 1/5 scale gas buggies and trucks. There is one thing i have rarely seen from a name brand, AWD!!!! Just about every 1/5 gas truck is 2wd besides a few off brand exceptions. I don't know about the other RC nuts out there but I think you should come out with a AWD 1/5 scale revo (with revo suspension) with a 30cc engine, 3 speed tranny w/reverse, and a 2.4GHZ radio. I know it wouldn't be cheap but it would give competition to those other companies. It would also be very cool!!! I'm just presenting my thoughts to you and I think alot of people are thinking the same thing I am.

Considering that "regular" 1/5's are $1000 or more, I don't want to imagine what it would cost to buy an RTR fifth scale Revo.

Well Traxxas has already been down the large scale route with that buggy they use to make way back when... maybe they just dont see building 1/5 as something they can make money off of. Thats to bad, cus Id save up and buy one, but I can understand why they dont. There market mostly is folks that buy stuff around christmas time I bet at the local hobby shop.. and of course die hard rc fans too... but the first time buyers prolly make up for a huge percentage of their sales. And I just dont see first time buyers wanting a big ole kit that would be lots of money.

They could get away with selling a 1/8 brushless buggy fosho! That would be in the price range wheelhouse for lots of people and the buggy market is very popular! Im not into racing. but I still would like a not so serious buggy and I think Traxxas would be the one to deliver such a kit.

They definitely will have thought about this and it probably works out that they won't get enough money from it or other projects will make them more.

fg does have a 1/5 scale awd and so does redcat racing. they be no name brands to you guys but the the 5th scale world they are well reputable brands. i use to have a baja 5b and a 5t but to be honest its more gimick then anything. parts are very expensive, they are very loud so give you less places to run them and require ALOT of room.

I'd have to agree. Traxxas RTRs is marketed more towards beginners, in my opinion. They're inexpensive in comparison to other RCs and they're advertised as fast. When I'm at the LHS and I see people bringing in their Traxxas RCs, half of them are accompanied by their parents because they're only 13 years old or something.

A couple years ago I went down the road of dropping a lot of money into RC. It was too much.

I can think of a lot better things to spend $1,500 on than an RC car.

    i would say between $1500 to $1800.

my baja 5t was $1300 and it was RTR.

now if traxxas would just scale up the slash 4x4 and put a gas engine in it... wow... i'd get that in a second.

or if traxxas would come out with WRC rally type AWD cars... in 1/5 scale. man that would be killer.

True but most do it over time, $20 here another $40 there. Not all at once (obviously some people do)

They had the monster buggy, but is was $1,000 new and it just didn't sell very well.

It is not really that smart for traxxas to remake something that didn't sell at all.

That was what, 15 years or so ago?
In these days, that would be about 3k.
So, with that being said I think they can get away with a truck selling at 1k.

Maybe they could make 100 1/5th scale gas 4x4 revos. That way, price wouldnt matter it would be mainly a collecters item. They wouldnt really have to spend that much time on it they would just have to supersize all of their revo parts lol. That thing would probably weigh around 45 lbs though!

I think 1/5 is great, but is not something most of us can afford.
The brushless trucks are alot of money to. The most affordable now is nitro.
If the price of brushless would come down to 450 or 500, nitro would hurt really bad
I think nitro will have a come back, and traxxas is working on the new trx big-block right now.
If they revamp the Maxx with big-block power, and make it stronger to compeat more with the savage, it will be a hit.
