    We need a "base" model

I think its just a matter of time before an xl5 edition comes out, but when can we expect it?

Most people will change out all the electronics anyway. Plus it will keep the price low and affordable for the younger group.

I agree ... there should be an XL-5 version with a standard TQ System for those who cannot afford this new truck with the bells and whistles...... Guaranteed the XL-5 model will be more popular just because of today's economy and cost of the initial purchase of the truck..... Alot of us already have brushless systems anyhow.

You know there is no making you people happy. If traxxas had released this as a brushed version you would complain that is not brushless. If they didn't include a battery you would want that, if they put an AM radio you would scream how this old tech and when will they give up on the TQ.

They make a cheap version, it's called a Slash. When have you ever seen a traxxas roller? They are in this to sell product. As much as we like to think we are special here I'm sure we as enthusists make up a very small overall percentage of sales.

what they have just released comes with 2.4 radio, the vxl system, and a seven (7!!!) cell battery - - - - -rid the truck of those and replace them with 2wd slash stuff and no battery and traxxas will be gold....

for a second thought, a 775 and a xl10 could alos be a good idea.....would cost a bit more though

but if you get it, with the mind set to race it and thats it then you could buy the hole system and get everything you need.

but they do need a budget version.

I'd like to see a roller or kit for a decent price, so I could out my VXL/*****/TQ in there and save a few bucks

Too bad they dont have some sort of internet selling site where you could take the parts off and sell them. Someone should come up with something like that....maybe make it like an auction or something.

I think they should try and do a make your own car/combo website that will be geared toward people that want diff. things, or dont need things cause they already have them.

that is true but you also gotta look at it for someone just entering the hobby and dont have a spektrum or have lipos lying around.
you can always sell off the 2.4 radio and 7 cell with charger in the marketplace for a decent amount of money.

Traxxas has always offered RTR's, atleast for the past several years. I think PeterV posted elsewhere that we will not be seeing a roller. Sorry guys, but if you want one that doesnt have the goods your going to have to buy it and sell the stuff you dont need or wait to get a roller off of Ebay.

I may use this as an opportunity, however.

My Stampede needs good electronics. Sooo....

I'll move my Slash electronics back to the Pede...buy a 4X4 Slash and move its components back to the 2WD, and put a Mamba 5400 and a Tactic 2.4 on the Slash 4X4.

Geez its whine central around here, if you want a $200 XL-5 equipped slash, buy the one they sell now.

Sell the stuff you dont want, its really not that hard to figure out.

If you prefer a mamba, sell the vxl for 100-125 easy

If you prefer a spektrum, sell the radio for 75-100 easy

If you use lipo, sell the battery

    Its really simple folks.

You can have one no problem.

    $400 - truck
    $125 - less vxl
    $75 - less radio
    $30 - battery/charger

    = $170, close enough

That doesnt even include any tower coupons you may have $60 off $300 right now, so that brings you down to $110 for a roller.
