    Slash 1/16, I got it!

Hey guys, I finally received my Slash 1/16.
I traded it lightly used. I was running it in the dark, and the ground was wet from a big store. Let me just say that on a single stock NiMh this thing is quick. I think it would be a great drifter if anyone was looking for a drift truck. Now I am not sure that I like the slash looks but it works. I have my revo 1/16 on it's way along with an onyx 230 charger. I want to get the slash running in a series tomorrow, 2 stock batts. I will probably get a video of it if the ground isn't too wet for speed runs. Now, I have one question. I fully charged the stock NiMh and it wasn't dead yet, nor did it show signs of usage. I have it hooked up right now charging. Do you think I will be okay charging it again? I want to have two fully charged batteries for tomorrow and I was wondering. I will keep an eye on it for bubbling but do you think I will be okay? Anyways, the guy before me obviously drove it in some light sand and it's in the output yokes and ball joints. That is a mess, I am most likely going to tear it down tomorrow and get it all cleaned out but for tonight I just oiled it down with WD-40. You can hear the grit, and I want it out. Just thought I would share this story for you guys. Thanks

I'd shy away from not fully draining a pack before charging it.. because NiMh batteries have cell memory and when you charge it full without full draining it, it will in a sense lower the actually size of charge it can hold. It remembers where you charged it (I don't fully understand it, but have had it explained to me in this type of way). So it's highly unsuggested.. Always discharge till you see a big drop in power output and then charge from there..

    *Edit*

I got back from a track day today and watching the slash race... was by far the most entertaining thing I've seen on an RC track.. 5 Slashes just tearing it up, bashing into each other (no other class allows so much roadrage.. haha) It was commical and seemed like the group was enjoying themselves the most. When the lead trucks would flip, all the other trucks would stop at the crash until the Corner Marshall flipped the car, just so that they could keep the racing close/intense and bashing away!

You're thinking about NiCd, and you're description is pretty accurate. NiMh cells however don't exhibit the same memory effect, which is why they are preferred. You can top off mid way through a discharge without any ill effects.

    Thats what I was thinking.
    Thanks.
How many minutes/hours do you think with the stock charger.
I drove it maybe 3 minutes hard, and maybe 8 really easy.

I drift my slash with abs tires...it's too slow so I'm going to mod them to get more traction for faster drifting. All you have to do is drill a few holes in the abs tires and fill with hot glue.
