    Thinking about buying the Slash

Right now I probably have enough R/C cars, but what's one more right? I've been thinking about the 1/16 scale Slash as well, b/c of the brushless setup, however I've owned the 1/16 Revo and didn't think it was very stable (in such a small package). It was on the lid most of the time.

Also, I have a Rustler VXL and Nitro & wouldn't mind having a brushed setup for some stock races at the local track.

Would I end up going brushless w/ a stock Slash? Any other thoughts on the Slash's overall performance as a brushed setup?

Since you already own a Rustler VXL the slash is going to seem pretty slow stock. I ended up going brushless within a week or so. However, if your point is to do stock racing, then obviously you would have a good reason not to go brushless. Also, its fun driving around in the rain! (Even though technically you can do that with the new waterproof VXL)

Yea, that's a good point about the waterproof VXL. What sucks is I bought my VXL setup for the Rustler a few weeks back just before the waterproof setup was announced. Oh well ...

I kinda wish there was a Slash VXL so I wouldn't have to mess w/ the upgrade. Plus, it'd probably be cheaper.

Well. I have a rustler vxl..and when i bought the slash, i noticed it was..well....quite alot slower...but the differentness of it made me love it. And when i took on some dirt, man, i didnt drive me rustler for weeks. Soon enough..you drifting on the dirt like a pro..but..soon, too good. So you want more power..more challenge..thats where the vxl comes in Then new tires, then lipo, then well..you know

Heres my pro and cons list:

    Pros:
-UNBREAKABLE..over the 2-3 months ive had one..the only part ive broken..is well...none..and i bash this thing HARD.
-Real car charecteristics...you know, body roll and everything.
    -looks great
    -feels great
    -driver great
    -great price
    -waterproof
    Cons:
-The xl5 system will get a little boring after a while.
-be sure to get alum shock caps..as the plastic ones pop off eventually
not much to put here i think.

+1 on pretty much that whole post. However, for me the XL5 had to go quickly, and as aoon as the waterproof VXL came out that was my ticket.

Send it in for the infamous LVC issues and they may send you a replacement. I think they have run out of stock on all of their old VXL-3s so I *think* you may get a waterproof one as a replacement. Also, if your VXL motor has the 2-piece design (solid can except for the endbell) your motor may already be the new waterproof one. Did your Rusty VXL come with the sealed receiver cover and waterproof servo?

Well, it's actually the XL-5, so ya, it was fully waterproof (sealed receiver box, etc.). It had bushings however I've installed Avid Racing Bearings for more speed.

I don't really like running it in the water anyway. It's more of a concrete/speed queen at the moment.

That's why I'd like the Slash. It would be more of a dirt/racing setup. What's holding me back to be honest is the lack of access to a close track. The nearest one is about 35 miles away. That's not bad but I don't have alot of time to get there and race (since I work on the 2nd shift).

What's so different about the Slash? Wheel base? Control? The Rusty is fun, however I've had a few in the past & kinda want something different. Also, I'm intrigued because my LHS sells a TON of them.

There's a guy here at work that might by my Rusty. I'm not sure about the Slash just yet. I might just go Lipo & stick w/ the Slash.

Or, I might just go Lipo AND get the Slash.
