Backyard track...getting started!!!

Well, since I bought my own house about 8 months ago, and I'm single for right now so no one can tell me what to do (

), my friends nominated me (ok, twist my arm) to have the backyard track. I plan to landscape it one day but for now since there's nothing back there, a track is OK.
My neighbors just built a pool so I had the pool builder dump all the dirt in my yard. (FREEEEEBIIIEEEE!!!!) It may be too much but I'll give away what I don't use. The dirt is super clean with no rocks.
I'm renting a Bobcat this weekend so I'll update with pics as we build.

Wow, you can make some monster jumps with that dirt!! Jump into your neighbors yard and make a jump back to yours haha

Well, we are getting serious now! Here's the progress after just 2 1/2 hours, 3 guys, 2 shovels and a Bobcat. Luckily, my friend operates a Bobcat like Chuck Yeager flew P-51's, so a lot got done today. All the Bobcat work is done, it's just shovels and rakes from here on out. We fought through a thunderstorm that passed through the area, but kept plugging away. Here's the pics:

Now its down to the details. Shovels and rakes, smoothing the faces, and building the pit lane. I've got to get some lumber tomorrow and some edging to do. Got to get it all perfect. This is going to be somewhat of a Slash track since all my friends have one, but will probably turn into a perfect mini ERevo track.

I'm working on pit lane right now...its volcano hot outside right now so I have to work in shifts, plus its just me today. I'll get some pics up today of the progress on the pit lane.

I've been waiting for this dirt for months! I can't believe how clean and moist it is for being in the driest city in the U.S. If you dig down a foot, you can scoop up the dirt and make a snowball (dirtball) with it. I'm pleasantly surprised.

that looks like a lot of fun. do you own that skid loader? or is it rented. my track would be a lot easier to finish if i had one of those lol. just using a shovel takes a while.

by skidloader do you mean the bobcat? (the machine the guy sits in?)

Yeah we rented it for a day. Well worth the $130. That's cheap!

Here's the completed pit lane from today's work. Well, mostly completed. Still have to build the entrance and exit ramps. Then start facing the jumps, then smooth the track, then..... dang, lots to do still.

Its much cooler at night so I'm working on the exit of the pit lane. It's not done, but getting closer.

That looks awesome man, i live in Az also but not close to Yuma

but i must say that is a great looking track so far, im getting a house soon also but i dont think the wife is going to let me make a track in the back yard since i do have kids lol they need the space, but good job on that one
