    Series and Parallel

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to make my own series and parallel adapters to run with my Revo since I can't seem to find any in stock anywhere.

The series one shouldn't be any problem at all, but I'm wondering if any of you have made a parallel one. Reason I'm wondering is I'd like to find out if any of you have any tips on attaching two wires to one terminal. Any problems there?

I was thinking of stripping a little more than the 4mm Traxxas says to strip, then twist the two wires together before I add solder to them.

Any hints, tips or suggestions where I might be going about this the wrong way?

    Thanks in advance.

Twisting works just make sure to tin the everliving bleep out of them and let it cool before final solder to tab
havnt failed I just found 1000 ways that wont work

Oh, and add your heat shrink tubing BEFORE you solder the wires to the tabs. I have forgotten to add the heat shrink tubing way too many times.

You cant be a (Gorilla) and bugar solder all over the place.. Tin them lightly because you dont have that much room in the plastic connector.

    Thanks guys!

Hey, if you mess up and get too much solder past the solder limit line, what's the best way to correct it? Heat it up and try to drag it off or, just try to dremel it off?

I wasnt saying be sloppy but the wire will take a decent amount of solder without making a mess.

Mess up? Whats that mean.. There is no such thing as messing up.. Use a popsicle stick over the line so you cant put solder past it. Use a vice grip to hold the whole lot together..

thats a tight spot to try to dremel haha. i actually did that and i just re-heated it and while it was still a liquid i guess just scraped it off and restarted. doesnt take long so i would just recommend taking your time.
what was that? what was what..oh that. thats mine.

Yeah, I got a little bit past the line the other day when I was putting the traxxas connectors on my *****'s but I managed to heat it back up and drag it off with my iron.

I just like to check with the gurus for better ideas.

I've been running nitro for awhile now, but this is my first electric.

I would suggest an actual solder sucker for trying to remove the excess. Also, a set of "extra hands"(alligator clips on arms) helps a lot to hold the stuff together.

I like the Popsicle stick Idea. I will use that when I work on my truck.
    Thank you for that idea.

I use those cheap plastic clamps you can buy at every hardware or auto store I like the popsicle idea too. Don't really need shrink tubing on Traxxas connectors. Here's mine and I got no skills

how do you guys get them to fit under the shells with the leads that long?

i made mine really short and it is still hard to get the body on and every now and then a lead will pop out and rub on the tyre...

i made my parallel last night, and swapped my 2200's to trx "style" plugs. i messed the first one up...got the wire up to far since there's no line on the fake ones...but i backed it off after reheating it and now it's good to go. gotta make the series tonight...although i think it'll be worthless considering 2s is hard enough to control

I still don't get why everyone uses these crappy connectors, I prefer Deans 10 to 1 over the Traxxas things. Easier to solder, no snapping plastic together, shrinkwrapped terminals, easier to undo.

Many prefer the traxxas connector for not needing shrikwrap and easy to soldier..

But since this truck is so small and the traxxas connector so big, i switched to t-connector (fake deans).

edit the traxxas one is also easier to seperate and can handle high current as good or maybe even better.

Just because "you" prefer Deans does not mean the TRX connectors are "crappy"..

Well, have you tried Deans or do you just use Traxxas because they came on the car?
