    2.4ghz

I just got my Sidewinder with my Vxl up and running today and the glitching is horrible. If I were to say buy the Tower Hobbies 2.4ghz radio will the problems go away completely?

Of course any 2.4 radio/receiver is better than stock, but describe your glitching. What is/isn't it doing? Just asking, everything hooked up correctly? No shorts of any kind?

The servo will go crazy and the motor will jerk a lot until it gets into range. Also are they're any other solutions to this kind of problem because I don't have the money to shell out right now for a new radio.

sounds like you are suffering radio interference from the brushless motor.

i have a mini lst that did the same thing. i had a decent am radio in it and installed a mamba micro pro system into it and it glitched like mad, i put a fm radio into it and all the glitching quit.

    just my .02

Braiding the wires between the ESC and the motor sometimes helps as well.

I was also getting a lot of glitching and interference with the xl-5 and it got worse when I went vxl. I got the tower hobbies 2.4 and it has taken care of all of that. I think it is a nice radio for the money but it is only the second one I have had the other was the Traxxas stock radio.

I'm sure there are better radios than this but for bashing around I think its good.

yea..AM Radios are complete crap...i've got an M11 that runs on FM at the moment and it works flawlessly...it's even got a built in fail safe so when i accidentally turn my controller off first instead of my ESC or unplug my barttery..my truck doesn't run away on me...(same thing when you go out of range)

I recommend an M11 if you're pocketbook can afford it..comes with many features..like ABS braking (no more balding tires when skidding to a stop)..traction control..among other things but those are the most important to me...as well when you feel like it..you can just swap out the FM Module and instantly upgrade to 2.4 Ghz..no more buying a whole transmitter..just a module and RX...which is just under $100 now

it does not how ever have telemetry...but meh I can live with out it...not really necessary for anything unless you're doing speed runs for soemthing..

also..the M11 has enough memory to keep the profiles of up to 30 RCs...

Well right now I plan on using a .1mf capacitor on my motor and then for added precaution using ferrite ring.

My son and i are both using the TacTic 2.4 systems, and my son has a Castle Sidewinder with a 4600 kv motor in his Slash and he is having absolutly no problems what so ever. Also he has terrific range with it too.He can run it out as far as he can see it, and the signal is perfect. I would assume the Airtronics would be a good choice also as I have used their Radios in the past and have been pleased with them as well.
