Charger wise the onyx 240 or the super brain 977 are good is you are sticking with nimh batteries. The 977 comes with a power supply but the 240 i am unsure of. Other then that you should be good to go.

dude get the onyx 230 it doent charge two batteries at a time but it has its own power supply and can charge lipos and if your trying to keep the total under 80 dollars you may want to look for a new car or just keep everything stock and use that one battery and charger tht comes wit the car

I have ordered a 230 and I am planning on getting a couple more NiMh packs when I have the money. I think I will get these Orion Packs:
    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXXNV9&P=SM
    Or these Power cell packs:
    http://www.promatchracing.com/proddetail.php?prod=1601
If you do get a 230, or nearly and charger as a mater of fact, you will probably need a molex to traxxas connector like this one:
    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSDC0&P=ML

I will then ask for a balancer, lipo sack, and some lipos come Christmas.

no, nearly every charger will come with a molex, or tamiya connector, they are the same thing. Same connector that all radioshack and walmart cars use.

It will have no problem charging any battery that can fit in our little trucks within an hour.

But if you have some spare time, I would recommend you charge the NiMH batteries at a about .3 amps so that they will last longer. You can program the charger to have a memory profile that fast charges the battery and one that charges it more slowly.

You can download the manual for the 230 hear, it will answer many of the further charging questions you may have: http://manuals.hobbico.com/dtx/dtxp4230-manual.pdf

Oh, no. It can not charge a big, 12 volt lead acid battery. But hey, a car charger will only set you back about $40. It will not charge your camper quickly, but it will work. Our FIRST Robotics team has to charge motorcycle batteries all the time which are just small car batteries. We use these chargers:
    http://store.schumachermart.com/se-82-6.html
I got them at my local hardware'ish store called the tractor supply company.

It is probably a good idea to keep your chargers separate. I have heard of a couple chargers that can do RC bats and lead acid batts, but they tend to be really expensive and they probably can not charger lipos.

I think he really means charging his camper. He did ask if it can double as a car charger.

But regardless, even if i am misunderstanding your question, I have found a charger that can do lipos, NiCD, NiMh, and Lead acid bats. It even has a lipo balancer.

This very issue has been covered thousands of times on forums all across the internet. I will give you a suggestion. If you plan on staying in this hobby for any length of time save your money and spend it on a good charger the first time. If not you will be stuck with a charger and then want to upgrade in the future.

There is nothing wrong with the 230. I have heard many, many good things about it. I have never heard anyone complain about it. It can not charge 4S or 5S batteries, but only airplanes use those kinds of batteries. And it can only get up to 8 NiMH batteries, but no car uses more than that in one pack. I see no reason to think that the 230 is not a good charger.

So the 240 can charge 2 at a time, but only NiCD/NiMH? And the 230 can do NiMH and LIPO's?

Would the 230 be better than the ******* accucel-6? The price after buying a PS would be about the same for both.

Any reasonably priced options that can do NiMH or LIPO *and* charge 2 at a time? Do you charge 2 LIPOs at a time with a balance board?

    TIA,

    VV

Another line of chargers to look at are the Hyperions. I have the Duo, because I have 3 other chargers and I was tired of constantly upgrading. The Duo is about the best charger you can get and still be reasonabe price. I also run the bigger stuff, so I needed the higher power output for my E-Maxx and eRevo batteries.

I have a "cheap" charger that only does NiMH and NiCad and I regret buying it which is why I gave you that advice that I did.

If I were to get a new charger the Onyx 230 would definitely be one that I'd be looking at!
