yes please do this is a subject I always love to hear about.
Can someone tell me if getting a 2.4 system eliminates having to make sure nobody else is using the same channel as you at the track?

yes it does because a 2.4ghz system finds an open channel that no ones using and uses itOriginally Posted by scoobyyatto

Stay away from spektrum! You will just come across trouble after trouble.
Spektrum radios find one open channel out of the 79 available in the 2.4 ghz band and locks on to only that channel. Futaba and others like the Tatic/Tower 2.4 radio use a constantly changing system 100 of times a second that eliminates the problems with spektrum radios and seems to be slightly more expensive but preferred for less problems. I have the Tower 2.4 radio and it is great. I am not a professional racer and only have one car so it is perfect for me.
No problem with any of mineOriginally Posted by Spoon1337

Like what? I own the DX3S and have had zero problems. Everyone else I know that runs this radio they have had zero problems. It's a VERY good radio for $250 and it comes with 2 receivers. Sim[le toset up andthe radio only uses 4 AA batteries. I would recomend this radio to anyone who wants to move to 2.4. Very solid and you can't go wrong with it. Not bad at all for that price. I wish when people complain about a product they would list what exactly the problem or problems are rather than make blanket statments like this. Spektrum is one of the best radios on the market.Originally Posted by Spoon1337

Specktrums are awesome they started the 2.4 game...........I have 2 dx3.0 four 3 years and never a problem......
been running DX3.0 on emaxx and mini revo for a few weeks now and no problems..
I don't know what problem you had, but that's the best 2.4ghz system out there right now.Originally Posted by Spoon1337

Didn't want to start any arguments. I have just had scrolling issues and issues with the failsafe, cheap plastics, telemetry as well. The FASST system has a faster response time, higher quality plastics and I think its a lot more durable. I have gone to 3PK now and the thing is tough as.
Really I guess it just comes down to your own experiences. I have had no problems with my Futaba but some with spektrum. I think that when you spend $300+ on a radio you are going to want something that will last for a long time. I tend to chuck mine around, on the back seat, in the boot and still nothing has broken. Futaba is much more expensive though :S.

FASST = DSM2. Their numbers are exactly the same.
FASST > DSM.
In all honesty though, KO PROPO radios trump EVERYONE! Granted they are much more expensive, they are a better radio. I'm not ragging on Spektrum or Futaba radios, and you can't get a better radio than the DX3S in the price range, the 3PK is a great radio, and so is the DX7, but KO PROPO radios are superior.

Withe the DX3S, it comes with 2 recievers but one is for the telemetry correct? Or can it be used as just a regular reciever as well?
Summit + Mini Revo = RC Bliss
You can use both as normal, standalone receivers.Originally Posted by nino

Live by my self but lots of times my non-RC friends will come over and we will run all 4 of my Slashes at a time and probably 4 minis soon. Plus l always hated the long antennas looked like I was holding a old cordless phoneOriginally Posted by REVO7
You are a real friend!!! People like you grow the hobby ....wish I had the money, I would do the same to get more people involve in rc!!!!!Originally Posted by radicalray
