    Prepping my slash?

    Hey,
Im deciding that im going to make my slash a basher and a racer. Im not going to compete in the stock class (to boring having no upgrades )..and im wondering..what should i get. I know im going to start with shocks (going for big bores)..but what else should i start looking into? Im thinking of using 2.2 truck tires..but im stuck between that and 1/8 buggy tires. Im trying to keep alum to a low, as i want to save weight. Im also thinking of getting strc bellcranks (more smoothness), and some alum castors w/ bearing carriers. Any other insight?

    Thanks,
    arvint

When nylon parts break, replace w/ RPM. Very durable.

Ah ill remember that. I might get a lower CG chassis..but i think it'll take away from some of its basingness.

A chassis like the Outlaw is a lower CG design but you will still have the same ride height and clearance as the stock chassis.
If you bought it a Big Truck brought it

What are some upgrades that are cheap that will give me better handling and power? (excluding gears and tires).
I have around $70 to spend atm.
Im trying to also reduce as much weight as possible..while keeping a strong and sturdy slash.
    On performance list:
    -big bores
-shock towers with different mounting holes..(stuck between aluminum and Graphit/CF shock towers..mainly becuase i dont know lots of graphite towers).

Among other parts, rear shock tower for electric rustler, slash and electric stampede all the same.

    +1 for RPM stuff!!!

Ok..now im focusing on losing weight. As a start, i noticed that the stock slash weighs 4.8 pounds. With some bashing and crashing, i have reduced the weight to 4.6 pounds (lol ). Now..anything i can reduce on that i dont need, that wont hinder durability much. The first thing that comes into my mind..is the rear bumper. Do i need it?

Perhaps, It helps protect the motor on cartwheels, well, if you're going fast enough. It's just a sponge on the back to cushion the blow on the motor/tranny area. I say go for it, enless you have crashes often to where it might be a problem.

Now for chasis. It seems that the most popular are the gorilla max CF and the Outlaw chasis. What are some strong and weak points of both. I need a chasis that gives me a low center of gravity, keeping stock height, and being lighter than the stock chasis.

I think both qualify for your first two requests. Ask and search around for people who have one or the other. The CF chassis might be lighter than the Outlaw one. It seems like it is much lighter.

yea, the outlaw is fg. yea, Carbon is pretty durable at times. Very light. Has a good strength:weight ratio.

I think ill go with the outlaw. Being $20 cheaper and in my opinion it looks better too. It should be heavier..but i think it makes up for the lower center of gravity.

You could always get the outlaw and test it out. If you need to go lighter, get a hold of Penguin RC for some carbon and use the outlaw as a template for your own design.

From what I hear, the gorillamaxx is adjustable, and it takes 3 oz off of the stock chassis, REVO7 has it, and I think he really likes it, just thought I would give you some more infos

hmm...this is tough..I like the lightness and i think durability of the gorilla max, but i like the design of the outlaw and its lower COG.

Oh yea..about wheels. Which do you think will be better off offroad (not on road). As i might go camping in a while..and well..i want it to tackle some dirt, maybe mud, and a little pavment. Badlands or Dirt works? Im stuck between the two.

Are 1/8th wheels better than 2.2 truck? I dont see how. They are more expensinve in the short run (as i need adapters)..but in the long run they are cheaper..but is their any other advantage? Since i need tires for bashing.

I think 1/8th tires will come later...for now ill go with 2.2. I think ill go with badlands..as i think it'll be better in dirt rather than the dirt works.

D*mn - Supralands has some good prices!

Are any of them compatible with the Stampede without adapters, but still able to do well on grass and pavement?
