most brushless motors are dust proof, but not water proof i killed mine and when i pulled it apart there was quite a bit of rust on the copper. if you make sure that the ez-run accepts brushed motors i know the vxl does you can just switch it out when you want to go into water.

i wouldnt bet on it. if someone comes out with a waterproof brushless motor there will be big talk about it. and i would put money on it that traxxas will do it first.

So long as you take it apart and clean it soon after getting it wet any motor should be fine.

The Castle systems ARE waterproof. VIDEO

quote from Shawn Palmer - Marketing and Product Development at Castle Creations...

"The circuitry is silicone conformal coated just like the Mamba 25's. Legally we can't say "waterproof", but the Mamba 25 was video tested by a forum user a while back while fully submerged without any problems whatsoever. The same process is done to the Max. From my own testing and driving (poorly) I've never had an ESC have issues with puddles or snow. Receivers however are a different story.... we've soaked, splashed and submerged more than our share and most of them never "come back to life". The Max and 25 ESC's in those same vehicles were always A-OK. "

Don't take it swimming and you'll be fine...

So to my knowledge these are the current esc's that can take some splashes

    VXL 3s
    Castle sidewinder/max
    ez run esc

and for motors..basically, all the motors are waterproof, as long as i clean the bearings afterwards?

Just wondering..are these the new vxl? It says,"Water resistent case design uses rubber seals and o-rings to protect against damage caused by water and moisture".

Mtroniks brushless speed controls are 100% water proof

Brushless sensorless motors are generally not waterproof. Waterproof to me means does not let water in and is gaurenteed if water does get in (as it shouldn't)
However, water should not harm them. If running in water, just remember to fully dismantle all of the motor and clean it and apply some light oil to the bearings again. This will prevent corrosion and prolong it's life as appossed to just running in water and not clearning or drying it

Unless the VXL details say it's waterproof, it's not water proof. Water resistant means can take some light splashes but don't count on it if it gets very wet. In the Rustler forum, there is a member who just got a new Rustler VXL and it says waterproof all over it so the new system is. Just make sure it's the waterproof version and not the older version.

Lrpo is water proof for the ESC and so is m troniks and Ez run and novak are just spalsh proof meaning if water gets splashesd on it's ok but it can't be submerged under water... as for brushless motors there is no water proof brushless motor Not even the traxas new mini trucks because in order to be water proof First there would need to be O ring rubber seals on the bearing shaft in front of the motor bearings so it would not let water get in and no brushless motor has this yet they just have a normal bearing that water will get passed and in them.
    Thanks

Guys i have direct experience with the sidewinder in a slash at the beach and at the track the case is NOT sealed. dirt and sand find their way in very easy and they collect in the bottom of the case - if it gets wet then the sand and dirt get wet and short out and corrode the board. sure you can open it up and clean it all of the time. this doesnt happen with the velineon set up because the case is sealed. I would stay away from ANY ESC that doesnt have US support. ESC's do have issues from time to time and your not going to send it back to hong kong to get it fixed.
I used to race on road with mamba max and 5700. great set up until it rained hard one day we had to covers off. just the rain collecting on the mamba max while it was powered up caused it to die.
