Just wanted to give
my input. With the cost of gears being under $10, I have tried lots and wanted to give
my input on what I find to be the best gearing on the
Dewalt 14.4V motor on a 1:10 E-Revo which I found to be 24T/54T.
What we can all be assured of is that the
Dewalt has CRAZY torque. However the thing that it is missing is the high end speed.
My brother owns the brushless version however is always replacing the ESC because it gets wet and since we live in rainy **** Washington State, I didn't want to spend $300 to get brushless and then not be able to drive when it is wet outside. By the way, a wet street is super fun if you're not scared of water damage.
So after doing much research I went with the
Dewalt 12V motor. Yes it got way too hot and ended up smoking two of them before I did much more research and am now very very happy with the much much cooler running 14.4V
Dewalt motor.
The one thing that I was not happy about is how much faster
my brothers brushless erevo was over mine. I did much more research and ended up with the following setup that got
my Dewalt motor to (almost) match the speed of his brushless setup. Still has crazy torque and is fully waterproof still.

Of course there are many a lipo battery but I found these to be the best and most powerful from Got 2 Go RC. They are matching, just one has an extra cell.

Of course the part in question here will be the 24T pinion but that was the key gear in getting the speed up and hasn't gotten the motor or ESC hot. Just had to do a little work with
my Dremel to remove the stock
dewalt pinion and also to widen the screw slot for the motor mount so that the gears would mesh up. Been running this setup for a bit now and not have any problems with overheating.
Any thoughts?
