Do the big Joes have much sidewall flex? That's what I hate about my mashers. I want a monster look, but don't want to flip the truck everytime I turn. I made the mistake of mounting mashers on Tech5 with no offset. I'm thinking about buying 1/2 offset desperados and putting big joes on them. Any opinions on this?

I can't comment on Big Joe's sidewalls since I've never had them. Running some offset rims will help quite a bit with cornering stability. And the Tech 5 rims are a skinny 40 series rim - they are 1/2" narrower than the standard 40 series rim so they will make the sidewall on any given 40 series tire even softer (it gets pinched).

You won't be able to run the Desperados because they have the Traxxas Style Bead, not the 40 series bead (plus they are on the narrow side like the Tech 5 rims - around 2.75" wide).

Best thing for Big Joes (thats easy to find and has the correct bead) is a regular 40 series rim with an offset, such as Axial 8 Spoke Oversize Rims (not the bead locks). These are a 17mm hex. If you want lighter wheels, look on Ebay for some of Proline's discontinued 40 series rims such as Velocity 23mm hex, Cheyenne 23mm hex or Wabash 17mm hex - all have great offsets.

    You gonna unmount the Mashers?

Thanks for the reply man. I think I'm going with the Traxxas Chevrons on desperado's. I like that tire and have it on my other ERBE. I didn't even have to tape them on 4s, but I will for my 6s beast.

    My new tries set ups.

The F-11 on trenchers is awesome, I should have my truck almost built soon or at least enough to get the tires mounted.

Figured I should post this here. Pro line Trencher X's on Geode rims. I love them, they fit without any issues.

Where did you get those wheels? I cannot seem to find them anywhere, are they discontinued?

Wesley - they are discontinued but you can find them still on ebay. They pop up regularly. But 2 caveats: they have 23mm hubs and the bead is the standard 40 series type, not the Traxxas type - but as you can see, you can still mount them up.

They will fit on stock Revo wheels (3.8 wheels). A 3.8" tire fits on a 3.8" wheel.

Another wheel set, And i really like this one.

The rubber is from a T-maxx 2.5 they are about 6" tall and fit 3.2" rims of which are RPM revolver with the wide offset. I had a set of my T-maxx and they lasted from 2004 till this year. These are the best tires traxxas has made, All the other tires are much softer and just rip apart.

I think everyone knows what these are....very cool looking setup but.....Not so much at any kind of speed! 40 series "Big joes" and Cheyenne wheels. I use them for snow only now!

I have both ERBE and Summit and plan on using the same wheels with 1/2 offset (required for Summit) on both. Of the following combinations, which would have the most durability for 60:40 to 70:30 road pavement: off-road driving. For ERBE speed, would sticking with a Traxxas wheel (with its lip which can surround the bead for more glue contact) minimize the chance of tires ripping off the bead compared to Proline and RPM brands -- I currently run RoadRages on 1/2" offset Desperados and the tires eventually come off at the bead after long hard 6s runs with wheels and fishtails.

tires...Had them on my BL Maxx, they do not balloon as easily, as the Talons.
Rims are the Geodes they have a good amount of offset.

Thanks.I think I am going to get the tyres and the Geodes.I never paid much attention to the Maxx tyres before because of Traxxas's description of them."Massive 6.3" put me off but I measured my stock flux tyres and they are about the same height.

Mine are not taped I bought them on desperado wheels. And they dont ballon too bad. But big tires are not the greatest for high speed anyway but I have run mine with 3s and they were ok

lol. I got them from FG Supply: http://www.fgsupply.com/product.cgi?...product=139976
They have the best prices I could find.

These use a square 18mm hub so you need adapters. A friend of mine made them.

Just testing out the PMT Supremes. Check out how smooth they spin - and I did not even balance these. They are so well constructed. They are designed for 24lb cars.
