Dang that is exactly how I was planning to paint my body, Already have it and the paint. Was unsure if I was going to paint the Hood yellow or not. Is that spray can or something else? I have Daytona Yellow and Blue Streak spray can. However it looks good.

that' PL 30 series torque wheel, I remove the chrome & painted to black.

just a spray can paint from Tamiya Color, I use Metallic Blue(PS-16) & Yellow(PS-6). and Sliver on the rear engine part.

Just kinda odd was thinking the same. I think my blue is slightly different but yellow is the same. I have tryed taping it out to do the yellow first but have not been happy with my tape job.

you should tape the light color part, darker color always go first.

xtreme maxx, watch some of the older "Herbie the Love Bug" movies. They are so much better than the "Reloaded" version and actually used good actors!

That's my Herbie in the post, I did base it on the original car. Myself being considerably older than you, it's one of those childhood memory things. You'll have them eventually too!!

Herbie has his place forever in the elite of Hollywood movie and TV cars.
I can't believe people don't know Herbie......I feel very old....

how do you all do the engine detailing. you cant mask it off so do you like paint it by hand or what?

Some of them look like they have been done by brush. If not, some of them are really good.

Actually, the engine detailing on my Bug is done with spray paint. I know it's very hard to see in the pics but my Bug (Herbie) has three different shades of graphite sprayed on the various engine components. Grab some 1/4 and 1/8th inch trim tape (body shops everywhere use the 3M stuff and it's awesome to work with) and take your time masking off the areas you don't want painted. Brushing paint on just does not leave as nice a finish so stay away from that if you can help it. You could also use the Liquid Mask if you are not a fan of trim tape. I have not personally used Liquid Mask but I have several friends that use it exclusively. Either way, don't rush it and the paint will come out great!

oh, didn't know they made badlands that size now. cool Might look into those. Hear great things about them in different sizes of tires. No matter what kind of truck, or scale, they have great reviews for teh terrain i like.

i have the fronts shaved down to half height in the centers and left the sides alone... the rears are "new"

the 30 series compliment the bug well but i need smaller fronts for the "scale" look....

the tires i cant say enough about.... i run in the sandiest muddiest places and they just grip and go... they make the truck slide just enough but grip soo much that if the slipper is tightened too much i will snap the axles in half!!!!

Heres my newest baja body, just finished it and trimmed it out, still dont know if I want to ruin it with stickers or not, I kinda like the clean look.

by the way slasher143, Yes I do paint all of my engines by brush and they do look just as good as the spray painted ones if not better, but you definitly need a steady hand. It looks so real you can almost wipe the oil off of it. Check mine out for yourself in the photo above...Legendriver43
