I don't see why not............. Just get a real charger, I know they can get pricey but you'll be glad you spent the $$$ in the long run. That Traxxas charger should be pretty cheezy....... right filmmaker?

The charger that will come with 1\16 E Revo VXL will probably be the Traxxas EZ Peak charger Part #2930. Being a peak charger it will work for all nimh and nicads no matter what brand. It doesn't have as many features as some of the charges we use but it will do the job. Charging will not take any longer than any of the other chargers out their. Most people charge nimh at 3 amps
The Traxxas EZ peak charges at up to 4 amps.

    i wouldn't charge a 1600 mah pack with 4A.
thats the problem with ez-peak charger, it only charges at 4A.
and that is waaay overpriced too. 47$ !?!
you can get ******* charger with 38$ and it can charge almost anything.

Charging a 1600mah 2/3 AA cell at 3 or 4 amps would be too high of a charge rate. The rule of thumb is 1C which would be 1.6 amps for a 1600mah battery and 2 amps for a 2000mah battery and so on and so forth.

You want a good Charger get the SuperBrain 977. Its great it will charge up to 10 Cell NiMh and up to 6s Lipo. I use it and it works great very customizable too. You can modifiy the charge rate by the tenth of a volt.

I don't think Traxxas will put that charger in with the models I could be wrong. But it would be more likely to be a simple wall mount charger.

I think you are right, a wall charger with a charge rate below 1 amp probably.

These 2/3A cells are very sensitive to charge rates. More often then not, I see people recommend that you keep the charge rates low. Yes, the general rule of thumb is 1 amp for every 1,000 mili-amps of capacity, but 1.6 amps will really shorten the life span of a 1600 2/3A cell, no matter how good of a cell it is. They just aren't designed to handle that kind of charge rate.

I pull a lot of experience from the rock crawling world, where if you don't run LiPo packs, then 2/3A cells are the next best thing on the smaller crawlers. The guys who try and push there luck with a charge rate over 1 amp, generally cook their packs in a short order.

To be safe, I'd suggest .5 amp or less. During the first couple charges, even less. Around 200 mili-amps.
You have a rodent infestation. Shall I terminate?
