    Anyone running these in parallel?

I did a search, but I am curious as to whether they fit and are a good buy for the ERBE.

    http://www.*********.com/*********/s...idProduct=8916

From what I can tell, they do fit, but I am just wondering why they aren't as popular as the 5000mah. Is it the weight? Thanks

Those are exactly what I run in my Revo conversion in parallel for 14.8v @ 5300mAh, and they are excellent!

Most people run whatever happens to be in stock at HC at the time, and those were very popular until they went out of stock...when they came back in, people were buying the 5Ks again.

Gotcha.. So, they do fit in the e-revo? I searched and found the dimensions, and they seem to correlate well enough..

Those will fit easily. I managed to cram the 5000mah ones in my compartments...albeit with a minor modification.

Good to here. How are you charging these packs? I am thinking of getting the ******* 150w charger. Is charging in parallel safe? I think i read somewhere that it's not advisable..

I have the GT Power a8 which is basicly the same charger rebranded and have been charging 2 3s packs at once.I have a two 4s to 8s balance adapter on the way to charge my 4s packs together as well. It shouldn't have any problem doing it since it is rated to charge up to 8 cell lipos. The only issue will be how well it handles charging at 8 amps and rather or not my cheap power supply can handle the current draw.

Good to hear.. so you are charging in series then. How many amps do you charge at? What connector did you get/make to charge in series? Thanks for the help!

********* sells the balance adapters for *****s like this one for two 3s packs http://www.*********.com/*********/s...idProduct=6544

I almost always charge at 1c...I may go slightly higher if I'm in a hurry but 1c is a good rule of thumb.
1c is a 1 amp charge rate per 1000 mah of battery capacity so 4000 mah packs charge at 4 amps, 2200 mah packs at 2.2 amps and so on.

Yeah, that is what I was planning on doing.. about 1C. Would that adapter work for 2 4s pack, o would some modifications be necessary?

Something like that would do the trick as well, I am assuming.

I also charge both of my packs in series as a single 8S on the same charger/balancer.

What adapter do you use, or did you make you own?

To wire the packs in series? I just made my own out of Deans 12aug wire and Deans plugs. My balancer is setup to charge 2 packs as 1 already.

    I use an MRC SuperBrain 989 (25 cell NiXX/10 cell LiXX/24v LeadAcid/GelCell/PB) and Chargery DB8 charge-through & stand-alone balancer (1-8 cells).

Sorry, I can't find it on ********* now, I could have swore I ordered one but I guess I decided too and then forgot to look for it. I can't even find a male 8s jst connector on their website that I could use to make my own adapter.

Anyone know of a place that sells male 8s jst-xh connectors?

Check out the Chargery DB8 balancer...it is amazing! It retails for around $68, but can be had cheaper on eBay...I got mine brand-new, unopened, shipped for $3.00!!!

This 8s thing is becoming more of a hassle than I thought it would be

I may be getting closer to what we need... I still don't think that would do it though. I wish I had the charger in front of me so I could see the layout. Is there four 2s balance slots?

Ok.. after extensive wandering.. I think I may have found something. The only thing that I am confused with is the battery leds coming out of the board. I would think that you could just bypass those and connect the batteries in series to charge the two packs. Anyone gonna test it ?

Not bad...no adapters needed, just plug and play! I bought one to test out.

If I smoke my batteries or charger, I am coming after you jcm...hehe, j/k!

Yikes, I am hoping it goes alright then! it looks ok.. I would definitely still charge through the charger battery leads though.

Here is the same thing, I believe at a different site.

.. Or I could go with this charger... mah.. I need to stop researching this! http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/34714

According to reviews, this is one of the better chargers out there, and it brings me back to my younger years with my 15min quick timer pro-tek charger.. haha

My GT Power has a 8s balance plug on it so there have to be 8s jst plugs, it's just a matter of finding somewhere that sells the things. I may just end up modifying a male 4s and 3s plug to fit the 8s female plug on the charger. I would leave it plugged in all the time anyway since I use extensions on all my balance plugs....so I could make that work.

yeah, I just don't see where it's necessary. I can modify a couple plugs as I said and make it work that way without spending any money or having an extra little part like that hanging around clutering up my already pretty cluttered charging station (a shelf on a book case )

jcm, those packs are just 20C (mine are 30C), but running a pair of them in parallel will result in 120amps, which is decent.

I got my hobby city order in today finally which had two 4s extensions in it so I was able to combine them with a spare 3s plug I had and make the adapter.
It works fine, I'm not sure how much pressure the CA can take where the two plugs are glued together but I leave the extensions plugged in all the time anyway and it would work fine even if you didn't have the two plugs physically connected. Here's a couple pics.

Here's the 4s and 3s jst plugs with the wires from the second 4s extension already removed from it's plug.

and the finished product after shaving a little off each end of the jst plugs where they glue together and inserting the wires. Note the red wire from the first plug is combined with the black wire from the second plug.

ps....My GTPower A8 charger had no problem charging all 8 cells at 5 amps. They only needed to be topped off though so the real test will be next time I run them down good.
