problems with gear covers on dewalt

my gearing is 18-68 and i have to shave the gear cover a bit to fit in. i tried going 65 spur but couldn't put in the gear cover anymore as i have to shave a lot. so i tried 19T but still couldn't fit the gear cover snugly as the screw to the dewalt interferes with the gear cover.

any suggestions on how to make the gear cover fit in with a smaller spur or bigger pinion?

nitros run without covers. i dont see the point of it unless your running in sand or something.

I had to trim my cover some when I went up to a 22t pinion, never ereally had a problem with the 18/68 with my 775.

It's 19/68.

I had to shave a bit off the gear cover, but I assumed it was because I was using a large caphead screw to keep the dewalt secure (vs a flat head which sits flush). Anyhow, a quick nip with the dremel fixed that, although I've also run plenty of times w/o a gear cover and there's no real risk to it.

As noted earlier, if a gear cover was critically important they'd be on every vehicle including nitros.
