The one thing I will say is, I run other Tekin ESCs, and they are more user-friendly when it comes to setting up or adjusting configurations in the field. They come with a thing called Pit Tune, and it is as easy to use without a computer as the MMM is with the Castle Link...seriously.

And also, I personally know a couple of the Tekin guys, and their customer service is some of the best in the industry!
THANK YOU REVO1!!!!!! That is all I was trying to say about the Pit Tune that is.

    Also THANK YOU Supermaxx!!!

I think the real question is what did it cost and is the extra cost worth it ?

The MMM system is still the best system for your dollar , from what I have seen the RX8 is like a 100 more than the MMM system , thats a pair of batteries .

Like yzf128r said , the MMM is pretty smooth in its own right and Castle is always working on software updates .

    RX8 = $205

    MMM = $170

    Monster motor = $170

    Tekin motor = $165

    I'd get the Tekin combo.

You can get the MMM/2200kV combo, including the Castle-Link, for $229 shipped...I have personally seen them. I got mine for $249 shipped, but the same seller dropped his prices down to $229 shipped not long after, and a couple others followed suit.

    cwallis,

thanks for a another uninformative useless thread with zero facts. Such BS how people start these things, ie. lunchboxer over at rcuniverse (most useless forum member in history). How about telling us why it is better with some real facts?

some actual temps the same gearing and batteries would be nice? Rather than a generalized statement like, this thing is so much cooler!! is the fan clicking on really your method? Or your super accurate hand test on the tekin motor being lighter.

Macs are overpriced crap, I'm typing on my 3 yr old macbook and would never buy a mac again. Very frustrating to be hindered by a OS that runs 10% of the programs I need. I basically have parallels running 24x7, which will run CC link fyi, better option the bootcamp. Plus it doesn't help that every apple product I've owned has had hardware failure. Macbook ac adapter died after 14 months, battery died after 100 cycles, fans whine on CPU heatpipe, 2 ipod's failures later, I'm done.

I'm in no way a huge fan of the MMM, I had 2 pop when they first came out last summer. Plus I hate M$ as much as the next guy. My real issue is a all the talk with nothing to back up what you say.

If you feel the need to type out a post like this again, do us all a favor and hit the select all and then delete when you get finished.

While I think Castles customer service was really nice on the phone it is 3 weeks leter and I am still waiting on my ESC. BTW I never ran the motor over 140F AND ESC over 110F and it died. I had the truck under a month. I think the Monster ESC does have a problem with 6s. Hopefully someone is making an esc that does not have the going dead for no apparent reason problem.
I do know this my caps still charge up AKA Snap when connecting batteries. So its not bad caps. My lipos are dead on to the tenth of a volt on a fluke multimeter. So weather is finally nice and no ESC 3 weeks later really stinks.

That sucks dude, I would def give them a call and complain to expedite things. I had a about a 2 week turn around on mine which also popped while running 6s. This is my 3rd MMM on my recently purchase erbe and have ran it 3 times with 6s w/o an issue yet. My other two have worked flawless for 6+ months in my 8ight and 8t. I have not run over 5s on those esc's though. GL on getting your shiet straight.

MMM is proven to work, my V3 has been flawless. I really dont like the exposed solder joints, makes me wonder if they accepted that as ok, what else did the accept as ok. Other than that it looks sweet. thats my 2 cents (canadaian)and go for the MMM Revo. So far we have a pic of the tekin, and hundreds of vids on the MMM

Sampson0420 maybe if you would set the bong down and read my posts you would see that I have given some temps motor-130, esc was 4 leds(which I cant remember what that means, I did not have a temp gun), and that was running 4 cells Thunder Power 40C. I am not knocking the MMM I still run mine, but it is my opinion that the Tekin is better. I have also read other forums of people who have the RX8 and there have been no failures, just HAPPY customers. I just got mine and plan on doing more tests I was just trying to let everyone know my first opinion of it, so back of dude.

How do you know the motor is 130 but you have no idea what the ESC is since you do not have a temp gun?

You then say "if you have never driven a sensored system you would know the difference." I have never driven a sensored system and I do not know what a sensored system is supposed to feel like. Is it just better at super low speeds? That's the only time I see the ESC struggle to apply small amounts of power to the motor.

You have to remember that when people question your claims, it's not because they have blind faith in their own product, it's their lack of faith in your opinion without any data to back it up. Statements like, "It's just better, trust me" don't hold much water for any product.

If the ESC holds up better than the Mamba that would be better. As I have been waiting way to long for mine. Stinks beacuse I babied it as far as temps and batteries go and its dead. Castle is so backordered "2+MONTHS" on ESC's that it is getting to the point I am also looking into the Tekin ESC. As far as smooth as butter I could care less I just want an ESC that lasts longer than 3 weeks. ON 6s as Advirtised

Still no real data or vids huh? I'd love to see an alternative incase my MMM goes "up in smoke," know what I mean sampson?

Guess what guys? I have a erevo with a brushless motor the size of a watermelon! Sorry I cant prove it, but its better than yours!

That is uncalled for but I want to see your creation in action! Your fans need you!!!!

I did temp the motor at 130, but I never temped the esc (I never temped the esc cause the fan had not come on). I live in Alabama and it has been raining so no video yet. I will eventually get a video up, but I do have better things to do other than prove something to some people on this forum. Go read some of the other peoples opinion at the rctech forum, plenty of data there. I am not the only one with one of these bad boys. http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...hless-esc.html

It's not proving anything to anyone, its backing up your statements. Just like my last post, anyone can say anything, if you want people to think you full of it, thats fine. Like most of us have said we just want to see it. Sorry for wanting to see what your bragging about.

Vids of the watermelon revo will be up later, but its better than the Tekin! It doesnt even need a fan! Runs cooler too!!

See how that can be annoying? lol

Now fix the weather and back your claims up! I don't mean this in a bad way but I like these kinds of products that go against the grain, and I want my erevo to be a little different than the next one, just using you as my guinea pig!

Until then, I will wait patiently and hope you get a chance to stretch her legs with a camera around!

    Cheers

It was out past the spur gear and not meshing. At first I thought the pinion just slide out and needed better loctite on the set screw. But, while trying to fix it, I noticed the motor shaft itself was wiggling side to side an excessive amount. When I got the pinion back in place, I then saw the motor shaft was sticking out WAY too far past the pinion. Pulled the motor out and took the end cover off (nice design, BTW, very easy to access the front bearing) and pulled the rotor out. The magnets have detached mechanically from the motor shaft and let the motor shaft slide out. The rear shaft spacer has been mushroomed in from the shaft sliding out far enough to no longer be in the rear bearing. The kevlar thread wrapping on the rotor is chewed away on the rear of the magnets from grinding on the field coils. It WILL be sent back to Tekin for warrantly replacement on Monday. But, with a cash race next Saturday, I guess I will be buying a new 2050 motor from Amain or Stormer this weekend to have it in time. Had planned on getting one anyway, just not so soon. Hope the new motor holds up better than this one did.

2650 motor, geared for ~37mph top speed (4.3 tranny-46/14) Motor was 140 when I pulled it rolled off the track.

Do I get a prize for being the first one to post about breaking a new Tekin system? Actually, I'll settle for a motor that wont do this again.

To show the smoothness you could easily do a video in your living room showing the different ESCs crawling around the carpet. Personally I'm satisfied with the slow speed mobility of the MMM, but if the Tekin is as smooth as you say (smooth as a brushed motor?) it could have serious merits in the Summit.

No one really said WHY it shoud be better. And don't come with "easily programmable" or "doesn't get as hot"... that's bull**** (sorry). I programmed my MMM once and that's it... not sure why there's such a hassle about easy programming. And "doesn't get as hot" just means it doesn't produce the same amount of power, or will anyone argue that the Tekin motor is more efficient than a Neu or Lehner Motor? I doubt that.

So please, I don't say the Tekin is a piece of junk or anything, but we all still know how we hyped the MMM before it was released. Let's just wait and see what the Tekin can do. Then, after a few months get back and talk about this again, this time backed up with some experience.

All we can do know is watch some videos and praise the all so great sensored technology which is mostly good for crawling, not for the race. Let's face it, sensored is good for a smooth running at very low speeds or did anyone here notice cogging or erratic behaviour at medium to full speeds? Again, I doubt that.

I totally agree, it should be deleted. I will eventually get around to making some videos. I was just trying to let people know that there is an alternative to the MMM, but the problem is that a lot of people on these forums can't think outside the box, if you don't run *****'s or MMM's then your an idiot, it is sad really.

absolutely not, you're not an idiot just because you're not running ***** and mmm... However, if after 77 posts and several explanations, you still haven't figured out the real reason people question certain claims, well then you just might fall into that category.

Yeah smoothies are not at all for kids, and the bong comment started from the TS. I agree, delete this thread because it is going as far as the watermelon revo. I still would love to see the tekin in action, not that the trust isn't there but common, this is the internet, if you believe everything you read without actual proof, who's the idiot? I think the interest is definitely here to see what the tekin can do. I think a lot of people want to see some competition for the mmm, myself included, that's why I went with the losi system first, but it is no where near as good as the MMM, so I upgraded. I don't want to join 30 forums to see what the RX8 can do, I want to see what YOUR RX8 can do because 99% of the people on here are AWESOME and I like to hear different opinions. But for now, it seems like you dug yourself into a hole with some high praises for the RX8, without anything to really base it off. I go for the underdog, prove everyone wrong some time over the next week or so and post a vid of the slow and fast movement of the system, and please don't take offense to every one's curiosity!
