It went, stop, go, stop, go, stop, go!

Ok, took the Jato to the beach today, after a bit of an issue with the tune I got it started and it was running well then all of a sudden it stopped.

It was a fair distance away from me so I assumed the engine had cut out. As I walked to restart it I could hear the engine was still running. I pulled on the throttle the engine roared but nothing happened. Another burst of the throttle and the same thing happened. I gave it one last burst and off it went! A bit more running and the same thing happened.

I figured I would check here first before I go dismantling it again for about the fourth time in a week, does this suggest its a clutch problem?

I thought that but as the throttle was causing the engine to rev and the steering was still working I guess its not.

im kinda new to this but it kinda sounds like you need to tighten up your slipper clutch... that may work ... but idk?

ye man. first thing to do when no power goes to the wheels is the clutch.
im probably 80% on that becasue i dont now how it can still run again on the gound dso it could be something else. but the clutch would be no.1 right now.

Also check the bearings of the cluct as well. check that ur E-clip hasnt flipped off or anything.

Well, took the CB off and sure enough one of the shoes has disintegrated.

Any recommendations on replacements before I go and buy the stock?

hahahaha boooyaaa hehe. um how long did the stock last u?? theres MIP that make good stuff but i dont no if its a better option. i use the MIP clutch spring on the stock clutch its all the same bro. Unless u want to go like 3 shoe which requires a different flywheel.

I had it about a year but it was second hand so I guess its had a good run. I came across some alloy clutch shoes, is there any advantage over stock plastic? I'll have a look for the MIP but the Jato is poorly served for hopus other than Traxxas parts in the UK so for speed I guess I will order the stock for now.

What are the benefits of three shoes and is it worth considering?

The metal oness requiere more maintanance. While the stockers require pretty much none. I would just get 3 of the stockers that way you have spares. Clutches are clutches, they dont realy increase performance
    You can only have 2
