2.0" Revo Wheels - Same as 2.0" 1/10th scale buggy?

Way back in the olden times, buggy tires were 2.0". I think they are now all 2.2" I was wondering, will the Revo fit 2.0" buggy tires (assuming I can find them?)

I did some searching for tire setups for our much anticipated little beasts, and here is what I came up with.

Stock Tires - 3.25 inches in diameter, 1.8 inches wide.
1/10 Truck Holeshots - 3.8 inches in diameter, 2.2 inches wide.
1/10 Buggy Holeshots - 3.2 inches in diameter, 1.8 inches wide (perfect blue groove track tire - what I'll be using).
1/10 Truck Gladiators - 4 inches in diameter, 2 inches wide.
1/10 Truck Bow Ties - 4 inches diameter, 2 inches wide.
1/10 Truck 30 Series Bow Ties - 3.9 inches diameter, 2.2 inches wide.
1/10 Buggy Bow Ties - 3.5 inches in diameter, 1.9 inches wide.
1/10 Buggy Dirt Hawgs - 3.5 inches diameter, 1.8 inches wide.
1/10 Truck Dirt Hawgs - 4 inches diameter, 2 inches wide.
1/10 Truck 30 Series Dirt Hawgs - 4.1 inches diameter, 2 inches wide.
1/10 Truck Badlands (30 series or standard 2.2) - 5 inches in diameter (too big).

I think that going anything over about 3.5 inches in size is just too unreasonably large. I think 3.5 is already large as it is. So we pretty much have to stick to the buggy tires until companies come out with tires specifically sized to the truck.

I will personably be sticking with the stock talons for bashing and the 1/10 Buggy Holeshots for the track. I may pick up a set of 1/10 Buggy Dirt Hawgs if the talons prove to have poor traction, but if their anything like the full size talons, they have acceptable grip for bashing.

And, to specifically answer your question, the wheels will not work. 2.2" is different from 2.0". The buggy tires will be too large to fit on the stock rims.

However, since they all use 12mm hexes, you can just bolt up a true set of 1/10 buggy rims and tires.

Just wondering how do you know the stock tires are 3.25" tall?

So, I have been out of the R/C scene for a while (college does that to ya), and back on my really old bandit (like 8 years old), the wheels did not use hexes at all. Is this a new development (less than 8 years), or did/does traxxas just do things differently on the bandit?

This may belong in a different forum.. but hey, you guys seem knowledgeable

Hi most 1/10 scale buggies do not use hexes even associated.

I know crawlers use 12mm hex wheels. I'll be trying my spare set on the mini Revo.

Ofna Jammin uses the same offset to b3 rims the difference
Proline B3 rims use drive pin
    CRT.5 uses 12mm hex

I think that the CRT.5 or Hyper mini ST rims with holeshot M3 will be the choice for racers

REQUIRES: Mounting on a 2.2" wheel Tire Glue DTXR2000, DTXR2002

    SPECS: Inner diameter: 2.2" (55mm) Outer diameter: 4.1" (104mm) Width: 2.0" (50mm)

So this above won't work? Searching for some sand type tires....

Freaking confusing. With no dimensions, its very hard to tell what rims will work, arg.. Anyone know?

I highly recommend the Losi buggy x3000's w/ the ofna dish's they are perfect for racing and will drop right on. (about 3.25)

beware of any of the traxxas 1:10 buggy (bandit) wheels as they are not hex, though maybe take the hex off and it will still work? Have to check w/ traxxas

the hex on a mini is a lot smaller...still the rubber is going to be a lot thicker and heavier than for a mini...if you do with 2 batterys it would proboly go like 40...its not worth it
if its fast its a rustler

These tyres are designed for 1/10 truck
Both 1/10 Truck and buggy use 2.2" rims with truck rims being wider and the tyres have a much taller profile, I believe you would be able to use these paddle style wheels on buggy wheels (with a 12mm hex) but the sidewall will extrude from the rim a lot and the rolling diameter of the tyre at 4+ inches would affect the vehicle dramaticly (Gearing and stresses) I am unsure if there are any 2.2 " 1/10 truck rims with a 12mm hex? (Maybe Tamiya)

Myself I would stick with 1/10 buggy wheels as they are a lower profile and will be much closer to stock size.

The hotbodies D4 uses 12mm hexes.. So rear D4 rims are a option

I will be running Jconcepts Goosebump tires, and see if I can get some Rulux rims on it

    I Like these

    http://images.amainhobbies.com/image...yotrh001bk.jpg

    off a Kyosho DBX

I also like Hyper Mini ST rims in white and black

    http://www.ofna.com/images/hyper-min...ni-st-head.jpg

and for the racing look Jammin CRT.5 rims in white or Yellow

    http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/6321/pict2894vq5.jpg

All these have a bit more offset than standard buggy, (Kinda like full size revo platinum wheels)

not sure about the Jato as i do not have personal experience with it, but i do have experience with the following vehicles with 12mm hexes.

    Rustler & VXl
    Stampede & VXL
Bandit (rear tires only) & VXL (but you could probably run the fronts with no hex, just the axel pin)
    Slash

The rest i am unsure of.

check this combo axial beadlocks with moabs the best part is the beadlocks are 12mm hex and the discription for the tire says it gives you an extra 1/2" ground clearence!!!
