    Great Hobbies Lipos?

    Anyone have experience with these?

    http://www.greathobbies.com/producti...0L3C&hf_type=S

Mike at the Edmonton store said they were sick, he's had well over 100 cycles on them and still lots of juice, like they were neu (sorry, new)

But the price is also sick, just wondering if anyone with first hand experience has an opinion. It's either these or the flightpower 3s's, which are around $150, (both readily available) or order some *****s from the interwebs.

I just haven't had the experience with lipos to justify the high price, unless there is a secret about the quality.

Or is it worth it to get the A123's and go from there?

No matter what happens, I'm going to spend about $1000 on lipos or start fresh on A123s for the fast charge time.

    Thanks

    Kevin

    Total ripoff...

You can get top of the line Neus or Enerlands for much less than that...

$240 for a 25c 3s lipo!? That is insane! There are tons of other packs that you could get for way less than that, but are even better quality. Those even make MaxAmps look cheap!

Guys Greathobbies is in Canada. So you have a factor in exchange rate,Sales Taxes(GST 5%).shipping & Possible duties.Currently The Canadian dollar is at 0.823825 to 1 U.S. dollar.
    -A 3S NeuEnergy battery is around $160 U.S.D & 194 Canadian
    -MAX AMPS 30C Lipo 5250 3S 11.1V Battery Pack is $180 U.S.D & $218 Canadian dollars
    -PolyQuest XP Lithium Polymer(A.K.A Enerland) 11.1V 6000mAh is 154.99 U.S.D & 187.71 canadian dollars.
You also factor in 8 to 15 dollars(U.S.D) for shipping & sales taxes(where applicable)(11% to 14%sales taxes)on top of those prices

Even with all the exchange, etc they are still a bit pricey, especially when you can get the flightpower 3c's around town for about $170. But therein lies my dilemma, get the Flightpowers or GH lipos? Is the quality better?

Might as well say 500 for 2 packs......Way too much. Unless they come with a lifetime free replacement, no questions asked warranty. lol

Also take into consideration that most(Canadian) retailer try to make a 25% to 30% profit to also cover Duties, taxes & shipping.Canadian retailer have to pay duties when they bring in products.I believe anything imported into Canada that's over a certain amount of money(at one time it was $500 & over) is subject to 8% dutie.
Their another retailers like www.hobbyroom.ca,but I couldn`t tell you how good they are. Also Great hobbies will does price match with other companies in canada(it`s advertised on their front page)

Cheaper/lower quality cells are more susceptible to ripple current/effect

Many people use those cells with no problems, they have great performance with them.

The price is canadian, and after shipping etc the price not too different, but still cheaper on ebay. I'd rather buy what is here now then order online, sorry but money isn't an issue really, I just want what is available here now!!!

If I did that i would have 2500mah 7.4v 20c batts that I would spend more time on charging than running in my truck. No thanks. a week of waiting isnt going to kill me and the end result will be better. To each his own though.

Have you tried those monsters or just found em? They do look sweet, though. Too bad the best thing you can get is 2500's.

I am also a internet ordering virgin, never have done it at all, so that is kinda holding me back

I havent tried them yet but I bought 6 cheap ($20 shipped each) 11.1v 4000mah 15c bats and hooked em up in parallel and series to get 22.2v 12000mah and they rock.Same brand, and they seem like they are good batteries. Im going to be getting a couple of those 10a bats as I have an e-maxx on the way and its going to need juice.

Ah dont sweat the internet ordering. Just pay with paypal and be carefull who you deal with (low or no feedback) and you will be ok. The sellers with decent feedback scores on ebay these days generally arent fly-by-nighters anymore. They want to make a living too.

Unforunately my hobby store is young. I have spent a small fortune there recently but they just dont move fast enough for me. Ive asked them to bring in some hobbywing products and they balk.Meanwhile they have no descent esc's to sell or bats as they are waiting on back orders for CC products. If they had the stuff I want, I would buy from them even if it was a few dollars more as at least I get it right away. Im going to keep bugging them to get with it but meanwhile I have to shop elsewhere.
