    What % Fuel for a Jato 3.3 ?

    Hi,

As I've said in a Previous thread, I don't know much about Nitro RC's and still learning. I bought the Jato 3.3 purely because I liked the look of it and the stats

Anyway when I bought the Jato I also purchased a Gallon of Byron 33% Nitro Fuel. I have been told today that I shouldn't be using 33% Nitro as the engine can't handle it as it runs too hot. I've been told to use 20%

    So 2 questions

    1) is it correct that I should not be using 33%
    2) if so can I go direct from 33% to 20% as I'm sure I read in the manual that you should keep to the same Fuel.

    Thanks

    Jase

All I have ever used is 30% fuel and I can keeps my temps under control just fine and yes you can go straight from 30% to 20% with no problems. 30% is considered a racing fuel but I use it to bash and have ran about 3 or 4 gallons through my current 3.3 and it is still running strong.

Who ever told you "shouldn't be using 33% Nitro as the engine can't handle it" is wrong the trx3.3 is designed to run on 33%, heck i even run mine of 40% nitro, its had a 1/2 gallon through it and still running strong.

Yes you can change nitro % but remember to re-tune the engine.

The key with the higher nitro percentage is to enrich the mixture settings a bit. My cans of 33% Top Fuel say that you should enrich the HSN by 3/4 a turn and then you're advised to re-tune the engine.

I thought byron had 30% not 33%. My byron race gen2 3000, is 30%... But whoever told you that you should stick with one fuel percentage clearly new to this as you are, or maybe he ment for the sake of operating you should stick with one percentage for the sake of easy tuning on your part. And higher fuel percentage runs cooler FYI.

Thanks for the reply guys, so if it's OK then I'll continue to use the fuel I have.

RC K1d, Byron have a few different % but the one I use is the 33%, think its the RACE RTR33 Gen2.

    Cheers

i use 20% merlin fuel and you can go up but never go down that's bad for your engine.

higher nitro means a higher performance but that comes with the price
of decreasing engine life on the long term. i think that unless you're racing
    stick with the 20%
