I've been rather curious about that myself.

The Revo/Slash pictures make it look bigger than the CM-20 motors. And the CM-20 motors are smaller than a stock RC18 motors.

To give you an idea about the Castle Creations CM-20's:

As great as these motors are (I have two in fact) I don't think they'll be a good replacement/upgrade/backup/whatever for the stock motor for these trucks.

I also have a mamba max pro esc and a 18th scale mamba motor (8000kv). I'm curious though. why do you think they wouldn't be a good replacement?

I can't find the specs anywhere. anyone know them?

Because of the size of the motor. The VXL having a larger can and rotor presumably creates more torque than the smaller CM-20's.

It would be like comparing a Neu motor for 1/8 scale trucks (ERevo B.E.) and a CM-36 for 1/10. They both pack a wallop, but one is needed for a larger vehicle.

I assume you're referring to the specs of the VXL motor? (the one you can't find.)

    The CM20 motors are considered 280 size. 20mm x 32mm
The VXL mini is a 380 size is more like 26-28mm x 36-38mm

The VXL mini will put down more torque and will possibly have twice the watts!

ok cool so the neu motor that wil bolt right in is the 1100 series? would the neu motor make any difference? say i got a neu 1115 3100kv, run 5s on it, with a Phoenix-60 Brushless Motor Control. would that have crazy power?

I don't think it will fit due to the length (64mm)

    Maybe 1112/2D ?

But I think the new VXLm will be nuts on 4s!

yea idk maybe well just have to wait and see. i know the longer the can is the more torque and power it will have right? would a neu motor really mae that much difference over a vxl motor? they cost like $160 not counting a $160 for the controler. thats the prics of a MMM

I don't see the dia. of the NEU ? that's a factor to..
in my opion I don't think it's worth the price.
    Motor plus esc 300bucks! ahhhhh!

If all you do is speed runs on the black top, it could be worth it..
But on the track in my opion would be a wast of money, I would get really good batteries (high C Lipos) and gear up some and have a 1/16th rocket on the street and on the track!

the dia. is 28.9mm fo the neu. prolly thesam size at the vxl just longer. I'm gonna bash and some track time but with this set up you can run up to 6s. 2 3s's in series.

Motor options are cool. But I've got the ESC taken care of with that Mamba Max.

I think the VXL motor is a bit longer than you guys are thinking, looking at the gallery pics the motor is as long as the ESC, 46-47mm. The rear shocks are right behind the motor so there is little if any room behind the stock motor.

I have a Neu 1107/2.5y I can try in it so save your money, I'll let you know what to expect. MMM, MM, Eagle Tree ready here!
My tranny case is stock :D

I dont know if a 36mm can will fit there isn't looking to be much room around the motor.

I also have a hacker C40-8L that is about the size of the stock motor and it is capable of ~800watts so, I'm not compleatly convinced a larger motor will even be needed.

Corection my Neu is an 1107/1.5y 3850rpm/v so very close to stock Kv.

My search for a motor will stay with the 28mm cans, but I will wait till I have the truck in my hands to start real planning. Not knowing if there is room for any more length is my big concern.

FWIW I ran a 36/50/3300 motor in my 3905 E-maxx and it was quite powerfull on 5s A123's. Top speeds over 40mph and wheelies easily up to about 10-15mph. I dont think that kind of power will be needed to motivate these little 1/16 scales! I have also run my Hacker C40 in my E-maxx but it was a bit overworked in that role, it was better than the stock brushed motors but not what I was looking for. My E is now running a Neu 1512/2.5d and putting down 14-1500watts and it's a blast. The Medusa 36x50/3300 has moved to my converted HPI Nitro MT putting out around 1000-1100watts and hitting tops speeds of around 55-60.
