What's gonna be your power setup for the 1/16 models?

When I get mine in the future I'll be chucking out the wall charger and maybe use the stock battery a little. But my power choice is to use my Vision Peak Two charger and two Orion 6 cell 4500mah batteries. The wall charger is kinda cheap and will take too long to charge for me. I prefer to peak charge at 4 amps.

So who else has got there power setups planned?

You cant fit full size batts in there. More like 18T kind of packs. Mini stuff

Im going all blacked out (chassis, rockers, springs, ETC) Probably a NEU 1105 (lower KV), some 3 cell lipos wired in parallel (Maybe TP 1320's if they fit width wise), and a Tekin RS ESC. Gear it for probably 40 ish and just mess around with it. I already have half the stuff laying around, so might as well use it!

Oh, I see...I'll have to see who else has got some good quality batts to fit the 1/16 E-Revo. A lot of companies will soon start making batteries designed to fit the Mini's I bet.

    Agreed. It's actually a rather standard size -- "1/18."

It's rather bizarre, though, that they're calling the trucks 1/16. Not only because it's outside the "norm," but because Traxxas says they are one-half the size of the big ones. The big ones are claimed as 1/10, as we all know.

Well Slasher, Traxxas advertises the big ones as 1/10 but they are really about 1/8th scale, from what I hear. I guess they do this cause it different, but I don't know. Half the stuff Traxxas is strange, like waiting 6 months to formally announce these things. But that does make the minis half the size of their bigger brothers.

    My Setup:
    - E-revo with the blue and black body
    - another TRX Powercell, I know they aren't the best but if I can do 50mph
and dont have to spend the money to go LiPo, count me in
    - Parallel Harness for bash sessions
    - Aluminum push rods and tie rods as stuff breaks
-a new charger, I'm getting tired of my Dynamite Prophet Sport AC/DC, great charger for a newb but I think its time to move up

Actually, the E-Revo is closer to 1/8 instead of 1/10 so half the size would be 1/16. Then the Slash overall is larger than a 1/10 so it's closer to 1/8. So either half the size will be 1/16.

Lipo at this scale isn't expensive. A good lipo at this scale will run you what a solid 1/10 6 cell does. MaxAmps 1550HV 2S 7.4v lipo $49.99. MaxAmps 1550HV 3S 11.1v lipo (one of these will hit the 50mph mark) $74.99. If you have a lipo charger these prices aren't bad at all. If I get the Slash I will leave it stock and run the MaxAmps 1600 7 cell at $31.99 each. MaxAmps 1600 6 cell $27.99. Depending on what plug you want installed it cost more. The Traxxas plug is $3 extra on any battery.

Right. What it's "closer to" isn't my point. My point is that Traxxas calls the big ERevo 1/10.

And now the mini is half a 1/16. Bleh..

Get two Traxxas adapters and you could use that charger. I used the Dynamite Mega Peak for my 1100's that came with the RC18 kits and it worked fine on the 4 amp setting. It will work with the 7 sell 1600's from MaxAmps to. Those are nice batteries. With Traxxas adapter installed they run around $35 each. Or go with the 6 cells for around $30 each.

    2. 2 3S lipos in series
    3. upgrade everything when it all breaks.

edit: or duel mini VXL with a homemade motor mount for the MMM.

My setup will be the stock ERevo VXL or Slash with two Traxxas batteries and the charger that's included. Maybe sometime if they fit I'll get those little LiPo's from Hobby City. What charger would work?

nope, they are 2.3 amp batteries. I think they can only hold a 6 cell too but they can hold two packs. A standard 6 cell C pack is about 5 inches. That takes up most of the room in the car so it wouldn't fit and the esc can't handle it.

    So the question is.......

Do you run (2) six cells in series for speed? 14.4v @ 1100 to 1500mah

    or

Do you run (2) 3s Lipos in parallel for run time? 11.1v @ 2000 to 2500mah

I think I'm gonna sacrifice some speed for the run time whether smaller lipos are cheap or not.

No you don't need two batteries. Though it will be nice to have two for balance. Once you exhaust one battery switch over. Or connect both of them for more speed.
