Not sure. I don't even know the mah of the battery that comes w/ them. They are 6 cells in the pic. Just don't know the mah. Guessing in the 3000's.

yea, but these arent 7 cells. That's why I thought that it would be in the 3000's, cuz it is a good beginner/starting battery to use.

    totally different cell
The 2/3A cell is half size of the sub C cells in the other Traxxas and most other packs for the bigger rc machines.
most I could find out there was 1600 Mah

ah, yea, I'm hearing two sides, but I think that they might be right about the 1000's for mah's.

1600 is actually quite large for NiMH packs of this size.

My lithium packs are 1550 and I get around 30-40 minutes in my car.
So even if they supply a "small" 1100, that's still a respectable 20 minutes.

Will my Duratrax Onyx 230 charger be able to charge these batteries?

If he can set it to 2amps that should work great for the small packs..

Yes, you just set the amps to a lower setting on the charger for smaller batteries..

My charger can be set from 0.1amps to 5.0 amps and charge upto 10,000mah sized batteries..

wow, what is it a Hyperion or what?

But on the 230, you have to select how many cells and stuff to say how big the pack is. I'm not questioning the mah for small packs.

in theory i think it might work, set it to 6cell nimh, charge at-(well i dunno until i know MAH) say its 1100 i would set it to 1.1amps and then i would think it would work im not gona be the test dummy though

I'm confused about what you two don't want to try.

So far you're right. 1.1 amps for a 1100mAh pack.

    What's the big deal?

Has some one tried to determine the actual size of the battery using the Traxxas connector on the battery as a size reference?

I have a Reedy VMX R-14 pack for my RC18B and I get great run time and speed with the stock set-up. 20 min range. Check out Maxamps.com and look at the RC18 batteries to get an idea of what you can run. I figure they will have a line of batteries with the Traxxas connectors installed. Cool thing is you can use your standard chargers and this size battery charges fast. Get two packs and you can run and have the other charged and ready when that battery is out of juice. Very nice. The 1/16 scale is nice and high end batteries are very afordable.

I have a few chargers. What I used for my stock 1100 thatcame with my RC18B is the Dynamite Mega Peak. You have the 1 Amp for 4-5 cell receiver packs and a 4 Amp for 6-7 Sub C Pack. I charged at the 4Amp setting and never had anyproblems at all. This charged my batteries very quickly and they held up fine.

the cars have two bateries so if we wire them in parallel we will double the runtime ... will the esc and motor take the longer runtime... we will see once the cars hit the street and people start bashing them

    Things are pretty typical.
mAh is a standard... motors are fairly easy to predict.

I didn't realize it used a smaller battery. Good grief, another style of batteries to purchase to go with my 6 cells, 7 cell flat packs, 7 cell hump packs, and lipos to fit in the variety of Traxxas RC's that I already own.

Yep and another thing the run times I got are based on the stock brushed motors. The run times will be better thanks to the brushless VXL. I also hope Traxxas will hit us with a water proof VXL system for 1/10 kits later this year. Maybe an E-Slayer as well. As much as I am thinking about getting one of the E-Revo kits I think a 4x4 electric water proof CORE truck would be more fun. But that's my personal taste.

i dont understand why dont traxxas put a price on these things and give more details about the product! run time on the batteries how long it takes to charge how much the truck will cost! its kinda dumb not to release any info on specifics i hate that!

Run times change on how you drive. It's no different with electric or nitro. The more full throttle you give it the less run time you will get. I will average around 20 min with the stock batteries that came with the RC18 kits I have. With better batteries that average will go up. With a brushless system that time will go up. I would guess that a the Slash VXL would average 25 min run times over the 20 min I got with the stock RC18. Not to mention better speeds. If you drop in a good lipo your times would average over 40 min per charge. As far as specs on the kits you will get that as we get closer to the release date. I am sure the RC magazines will get hands on reviews soon as well. A lot of these mags have on line video. Rc Driver has their live@5 feature. www.rcdriver.com

I've used my Onyx 230 to charge the 110 mAh 1s LiPo cells for my micro helicopter. You just have to set it correctly.
