E-Revo stock color = frequency?

My friend and I are planning to buy an E-Revo. Now I've read somewhere (can't find it anymore) that Traxxas put the frequency bands according to the color of the car in the stock vehicules. This sounds pretty silly but I swear I've read it somewhere .

Now since I'm a complete noob, I need your advice if my friend and I do have to buy different colors are not? Since we're not going on race tracks with other cars, it is just going to be the both of us driving together, do we always have to set the channel then somehow?

So is it true what I wrote above, as soon as we buy different car colors from stock, we automatically have different crystals as well?

yes if you buy the same color means you (should) have the same freq, you may have to buy different crystals, why not just get different colors makes sense this way you wont interfer with each others truck.

There is also a sticker on the side of the box that says what channel it uses, the sticker is supposed to match the color of the truck. But if your buying from a LHS, look at the sticker anyway. Also, as mentioned by earlier post, you can spend $8 or so and get another set of crystals, which is a good idea anyway to have an extra set anyway.

You could even buy a nice 2.4ghz that doesn't have crystals.

Thanks for your reply guys. I ordered the 2 trucks through my hobby-dealer and told him which colors we want. I'll see if it works out. The 2.4GHz thing has to wait

Yea there pretty expensive but if you go brushless you'll have to get one
