what radio system?

i probably wont be upgrading from stock for a couple months but i wanted to get some answers now so i can think about it... what radio would be the best upgrade? spektrum, futaba, airtronics? i will be looking to spend less than 200, preferably less than 150

The one I see most people with is the Spektrum DX3, and they say if your going to get the DX2 just save some more and get the DX3...but those are more expensive.

Im thinking about getting the Traxxas 2.4GHz off of ebay (that was made for the E-Revo). I've seen some pretty cheap ones on there.

there's virtually no annteana that comes out of the RX Box either. which is great

Is the receiver the same size as the stock one? Will it fit in the stock receiver box?

indeed it will it's the same size as the stock RX. only thing is it's got a metal sleeve/cap and a white fibre wire sticking out the top so I can't put it through the hole where the blue nut goes...i'd have to take the whole RX box off to get it to go through

Yea. I don't care about all the telemetry or whatever they put on those huge ugly remotes. I dislike those people at the track because those are the people that take it way to seriously. It's RC. It's a lotta fun. There will be contact. Live with it. Ha, kind of a rant, but the Traxxas 2.4 does the job and thats what I'm getting.

The Traxxas 2.4 is a great upgrade, but it does lack some nice features of an aftermarket system. You probably won't need all the bells and whistles, but the Spektrum DX2.0 or DX3.0 might be worth a look. The only differences between them are:

The 2.0 has 2 model memories, and the 3.0 has 4.
The 2.0 is 2 channel, the 3.0 is 3 channel.
The 2.0 comes with one receiver, the 3.0 comes with 2.

if you only have one truck you might get a used dx2 or the losi version on ebay for fairly cheap... i picked up one of the later and it works pretty well for my 1/18 truck, but i'm holding out for a dx3 for my 1/10th trucks.

Just depends on what you want to spend. LOL! I just use a DX3.0. I would steer clear of the DX3.

I've been running the Airtronics MX-3 2.4Ghz system for about a year now and it has served me well. I seem they recently came out with an updated version.

When I was shopping for a 2.4Ghz system I when and tried all three transmitters in my hands to see how comfy they were for me. I tried the Spektrum DX3, Futaba 3PM, and the Airtronics MX-3. I like the feel of the Airtronics best and the Futaba second.

The major drawback of the DX3 for me was it only has a 4 model memory. I'm currently running 6 vehicles from my MX-3 and I'm sure there will eventually be a couple more added sometime.

Most of the guys I race with run Airtronics M11 transmitters with either spektrum or airtronics modules. The M11 has a ton more features but I don't need them all and I think it's kinda bulky. I find the MX-3 has enough features for my needs and is super comfy for me.

I use rechargeable NiMh AA batteries in it and that has been much better than dumping regular AA's in the trash periodically.
