Just rub some dirt on it, it'll be fine.......
i have been running several packs with this moto and a 20 t pinion.. anyone running this should be fine... the highest temp i recorded was 209 degrees... pretty hot... but not detrimental.. even with this gearing i think the top speed was about equal to the the stockers... def more torque.. for this reason and the small track that i run on i am going to drop down to an 18 t pinion...
I'm considering getting some LPR wheel/tires to reduce the weight at the corners.
Just rub some dirt on it, it'll be fine.......
yeah im running mine with some losi 1/8 buggy wheels and tires on a 17mm hex.. i love them.. def. lighter than the stockers
correction.. im using truggy tiress not buggy
I was running some LPR wheels/tires on it before the motor swap and noticed a difference but that set-up is now on my Revo. I was thinking some badlands stretched over Rulux 1/2 ups. That set up looks amazing and handles just as well frmo what I've read.

dan at kershaw recomended using a 22 tooth pinion,72 spur & that no gearcase grinding would be needed.. if using a different setup grinding might be needed..
put mine in a 3906 with a 22tpinion & 66t spur & didnt have to grind any from the gearbox..Dremeled the stock mount dont think that makes a difference though..
im using a 68t though. i heard that you do have to dremel with the 72t spur

The ability to modify an existing part is what makes it fun. I didn't mind grinding the stock mount or the tranny to fit the 775. It's all par tof the hobby.

I am running the titan 775 in my truck with only mods to the motor plate and I am using the ORIGINAL EVX ESC! I have a small fan on it and have no problem with temps and I am running it with a 22t and 2 5000mah max amps batteries.

on the motor its usually around 120-130 with body on and 100-110 body off and ESC is hardly warm with the fan on it. It runs about stock speed but WAY more torque.
I still have the evx with no fan on mine but sometimes it cuts out for a second then gets going again..Dont know if its on its way out but I have a mamba max Im going to put in when my 4mm bullet connectors come in for the motor..
well the only problem i see with that is your going to make the mamba work much harder than it was intended to so i am not sure if that is really a good idea
why would it be working the mamba any harder than a brushless motor?? It can handle 100a & the 775 has less draw than a 2200 brushless..
that is true I was thinking about something else at that moment my bad it should be a good combo once you get your bullet connectors
Really? I haven't got to run mine yet so I dont know. I would figure with the 22t pinion you would be getting a decent bit more speed than stock.....Originally Posted by J-DUB

"Same speed as stock" I'm surprised to keep hearing that.... I say so cause my 700 dual kit geared 20/70 blows the doors off stock titans and hpi 550's.also a single 970 geared 30/72 in first gear also is way faster (top speed) ... I don't have a 775 titan or seen one run but the reviews seem weak IMO ...
ERBE - 8ight T/E - Kyosho Inferno
not for nothing but you are running a DUAL 700ho setup not a single motor so speeds will be greater..A 970 will be faster simply because of the ability to pull such gearing because of the greater torque it makes..

Ratpower- I'm only running regular 700's not HO . And I specified that the 970 speed was in 1st gear , I see way better speeds than stock and was thinking the titan 775 was a BIG step up like the 700HO from what I have been reading on this forum

as for the speed issue between the stock twin 550's and the single titan 775... my brother and i both bought 3905's around the same time... when we did run them their top speed was identical (obviously) but i have since put the titan 775 in running 18/52 gearing... as of now.. his is still stock and there is a noticable difference in top speed now.... saying that there is no comparison would be too much.. but there is a big difference in speed.. torque like all the others are saying is crazy.... near brushless performance for 30$...

s-maxx79, what motor plate are you using with your set up?? I dont see how you got as small as a 52T spur and the 18T pinion to mesh. I have dremeled my tranny a pretty good bit (scared to grind anymore!) and I BARELY got my 19T/68 to mesh! And thats using a KD mount.
Anybody got any pictures (good ones) of exactly what/how you dremeled on your tranny AND motor plate?? Did you make another hole or just dremel room for the opposite screw to "slide"??

good to hear s-maxx79 runs with 2.888 ratio (same as 23.5T with stock 68 pinion) with no problem. I just bought a 21T pinion and I was worrying that is too tall for the 775. Can't wait to dremel mine tonight
by the way, 550 weights 17.6 oz in total, the 775 weights 14.4 with a 21T pinion, not a dramatic weight saving but it's there

I dont think you will have any problems with the 21t. I even had to dremel on my tranny for my 19t pinion. Not sure how people are putting 18t on there....

thanks david, and some of the tranny case would be good too, if you can get it. Its hard to tell what you dremeled by your mesh pic, lol.
im having trouble with fitment around where the shaft meets the motor, that round part sticking out, fitting it up in the motor plate. seems like im having to dremel way too much. by the looks of your pic, you barely dremeled.
maybe you have better dremeling skills...

ok, but what about that bottom screw hole for the motor screw, did you dremel it out any or just made it bigger for the screw to fit?
are you able to 'slide' to motor back and fourth to allow for different size pinions??

I only dremeled it to allow for the larger screw. I can still move the motor a little to allow for different pinion sizes. Although 17 would probably be the smallest I could go with 20T more than likely being the biggest. Have not tried though.

madd_maxx08, when i decided to get the 775 i ordered the wrong pinion. It was a mod1 pinion so the stock MOD.8 spur would not work. I ripped through my spare parts and found a 52T spur for my MGT. It took some drilling on the spur to get the stock slipper to work. (drilled 3 holes where the existing slipper pegs wholes were). I did have to dremel some of the tranny and the motor mount but the end result works fine. i dont know the final ratio because the gearing is MOD1 gearing, but it works and the temps are fine on all 3 components (batt, esc and motor) I love this setup..Originally Posted by madd_maxx08

I would agree, seems weak. AT 25 TO 30 MPH is too slow for my 11 year old son.Originally Posted by mass-tmaxx

If I was to put a single 775 and speeds were like 25 to 30 he would be
Bummed.
I love the idea of one motor to reduce weight but don't want to sacrifice
speed.

I dont see how he's getting 37 mph out of 2 HO's. I GPS my dual 700HO's with batteries at fresh charge on flat ground at 32.2 mph. Thats with 24T pinions though, but I doubt even the 25t will give you a whole another 5mph.Originally Posted by zanerzack
I like the quote David said, 25 to 30 mph is fine with me. I mean your not running this thing down a drag strip or anything, its a monster truck, made for bashing, and you really dont need all the "37 mph" speeds, its pointless and by that speed, your already out of control and your batteries are probably half dead.
What we are after here, is close to stock/maybe a little more speed, with alot of torque, and from what people have been saying, super long run times.
I, too, have the dual 700HO set up, but I didn't like the fact that it added more weight, and knocked some off my run time. So thats why I got the single 775 Titan, I would settle for the little loss of speed, for less weight and long run times......

Don't get me wrong. Going fast can be fun as well. I'm still toying with the idea of mounting a 2 speed auto-shifting tranny from a T Maxx in to see what happens. I know people have done something similar on the E Revo forum with great results using the Dewalt motors. We'll see..........
