    e-jato questions

I am thinking of making my jato 2.5 that I have in parts into an e-jato. I have a few questions about making an e-jato. First, how do you make the brakes work without a servo; will using a single speed make the motor be able to use brakes? Also is the metal jato chassis too heavy for an e-jato? I think I want to make one like this one.

The brakes will be used through the speed control.

Yes with the single speed conversion you will be able to use the esc to brake.
The aluminum chassis is a great chassis to use, it is definitely stronger than carbon fiber which can crack easily.

Search a bit you'll find a few here have built nice but different E-Jatos

I disagree about the carbon fiber. I used a carbon chassis on my EJato and it works great. Its alot lighter than the aluminum and just as strong. No issues of it cracking either.

Rob was yours the vantage chassis or the custom cut carbon chassis? I remember someone breaking theirs. Anyways the vantage chassis might actually be a great platform to start from considering the dirt guards are built into the chassis, but when I saw that someone had cracked a carbon chassis already I decided to pass.
I haven't used a carbon chassis yet so I guess my opinion is a bit biased, but I can let you know that my brother and I have managed to ram my E-Jato into the curb a few times on the aluminum chassis and broke most of the plastic on the front end including a RPM bumper, but not the chassis.

I'm using the flat cut out carbon chassis, not the Vantage. The Vantage one isnt good for an EJato because it limits the room you have and it makes the battery harder to mount.
