Yes, you will need 17mm adapters and the wheels are available on many online sites. Do a google search for SC8 wheels. I bought mine from rc-tires.com . I can't comment on which are better SC8 vs Pro-line since I've never tried the Pro-lines. I can tell you that the SC8 wheels look and perform great, but I can tell you that they are not beadlocks like the Pro-lines. They only simulate beadlocks and glue on just like standard buggy wheels.
I would go with the sc8, I have a set of the proline and my son has a set of the sc8. I have had two tires spin off of the proline beadlocks. I am thinking I may have to glue the tires to the beadlocks. sc8's are $30 cheaper from tower hobbies, I picked up some $4 adapters at my LHS.
I just got my slayer today and it had the prolines on it and they actually look and work great
If you go with the Prolines, you're stuck with the switch tires, or stockers. SC8 is the same size as 1/8 buggy, so any of those tires will fit the rim. If you want to stay with the scale look, the SC8 tires are decent for most surfaces. I'd say they're comparable to the Proline Epic and Switch.
The Epic beadlock has a design flaw. (Got this from Pro Line Customer Service) Their R&D is trying to figure it out. If they can't they may end up scrapping all production of the rim.
i would go with the SC8 tires since it's 17mm and you will never strip a rim hex + it gives you the option to run any 1/8th buggy rims and tires. and other companies will probably offer rims/tires combo for the sc8 too
the 17mm hubs from the new revo is about 20$ on ebay.
I have 15 r/c's and my slayer & slash are the best
will the switch tires fit on stock rims or are they molded to only fit the epic wheels?
man what a dilema!!!!! i dont want to have to glue the tires but i dont want to get the pl if they always rip off.

gluing isn't really hard. i had never done it before and i did some rustler wheels and tires and it's not hard at all. just don't get it on your fingers.
gluing is a 2minute job, its just thats its kind of a PITA to get them off again.. boiling and what not..Im also interested if the switch tires will fit the stock rims, or if it will only fit the switch rims.. I have a set of tires, but dont know if i want to buy their flawed rims..
