    Transmission Noise

Is it normal for my Revo to be quite loud after I change out the 19t pinion for a 17t? It also feels like it's dragging as soon you let off the throttle.

sounds like your gear mesh is too tight.

Or you can try to put some light oil. Mine is quiet now after the lubrication.

no cwczx3 it right the only reason for that is the gear mosh is too tight there is no reason to oil nylon gears. the only other option is did you buy the right tooth size gear?

Yes, never oil nylon gears...they don't need it for the main thing, and the oil will attract dirt and grime and destroy the nylon gear very quickly.

no i think i know the problem... its because the pinion was too small so i wouldent mesh right. when the mesh is set you should be able to mover the pinion and spur seperate from each other just a little bit.

Check the offending pinion for damage to the teeth, or debris in the teeth.

If they are the shiny traxxas pinions you need to file the teeth. I had the same problem and after looking at them really closely with a magnifing glass I noticed that there is a small ridge on one side of the teeth. It is really small but if you look close you can see it. I used a nail file and gave eash tooth a little TLC and it works fine without a problem or noise once the ridge is gone.
If it didn't break you can do it again.
