    Nitro Summit

are there any plans to put out a Nitro Summit , or is the Nitro just not suitable for the rock crawling portion of the truck

Nitro doesn't have enough low end torque to be able to craw without straining the engine. Not to mention a nitro would eat though the T-locks, and 2 speed transmission. And I don't think the tires would be able to take that speed.

So in short, no. Traxxas is not planning a nitro version of the Summit.

Nitro has low torque.. and a clutch.. you would eat away the clutch trying to crawl over something.

I've done it. Without burning up engines or clutches. But nitros do have very little torque and make all their power at high RPMs so yeah, they are not very good at rock crawling.

An electric is much better suited to rock crawling because of the immense torque and better control at low RPM's.

EDIT: Just wanted to say that there is a definite "cool factor" about a nitro Summit though. No it wouldn't crawl as well as the electric but it would bash well and still be more capable than a T-Maxx.

Do you have a link where they sell them, I think electric is better suited for crawling. I’ve seen some videos of nitro crawlers; they are going faster and using mostly momentum to get over the rocks. The big negatives for nitro rock crawlers for me are the noise and since not as much ground is being covered, a toxic blue cloud accumulates.

I did see a nitro crawler in a video that had good crawling but my negatives still apply for me for the nitro idea.

the 4+ horsepower from my neu doesnt break the t-locks ...the nitro engine/clutch wouldnt be able to handle it...nitro motors like air flow when there being rodded on

But to have a nitro summit they would have to add a fuel pump...which i would buy another one and put it in my maxx. Think of not stalling during a race but all in all i think if they geared 1st LOW LOW they might be able to pull it off.
