Spring Question 5649 Vs 5445.

the stock spring on the summit is the (long) 5.4 rate double orange stripe. since the rear on the summit squats so much was wondering if i tried the 6.4 rate purple from traxxas if this would help on the rear. i do notice in the description of the springs in the parts list is that the stock springs are long and the one in question is not? so will that be a factor.

As for the length, it should be a factor if you adjust the pre-load spacer to adjust for the difference.

I too am considering different spring. They just aren't very springy, the trucks just sits after it goes down and barely makes its way back up. Hope I didn't blow a shock at the skate park. :/

Springs will help. Reason it's so soft and set up like it is, so when crawling the suspension doesn't react to quick bounce you off the obstacle so to speak.

i guess i will order the spings with the purple that is the strongest traxxas lists.

Just noting that the front of my Summit has double orange, but the rear has double yellow. Which is a 4.9 rate versus 5.4 for the orange.

Dunno about that - I saw at least 3 photos in the gallery showing double yellow on the rear, and not one with double orange in that position...

Mine has double yellow in the rear which makes since as there's more weight and when you get on the acceleration the rear is what is going to want to squat down. That's why I turned down the collars, so that there isn't as much sag. I need to dial them back up just bit though.

Traxxas says in the manual to dial down he collars first and if that doesn't give you what you want, then do go with different springs.

Why didn't you try that? I'm confused..

i stand corrected i wasn't at home the time i posted. the springs in the rear are weaker than the front,, so i will leave the front alone and change out the rear with the purple stripe.

hmm...there is a thread on here (the one asking about a specific video) one of the members put a 20t on it...from what i see it looks very capable!

according to traxxas's book that came with the truck all the summits are coming with pink stripes in front and orange in the rear. they wanted it to squat when it was gassed. they also do recommend that you adjust the preload on the springs as well.

dont buy the shorter gtr springs...i did that waste of 12 bucks...u need the long ones...you cant adjust it out with the tension nut.....and yes the higer weight springs go in the front....they made it ride like a 3.3 revo...the only thing i could see it helping is with jumping (landing)

yeah i talked to him about the 20t and i want the 17t,,he said it will be the best combo at 17t.
