those vids have been out for a very long time but it wouldn't suprise me if that was the birth of the summit.

that was before the e -revo came out right? but if its not traxxas has been planning on using revo chassis for A/T truck before the e revo came out. but if im wrong i wouldnt be surprised if that influenced the summit.

Those vids were made when the 2.5 revo was the only revo out and then the 3.3 came out so they are a good 3+ yrs old. There's a build guide for both trucks in the pit pass section. They had spools FR & RR if I remember correctly.

To quote Otto Allmendinger, leader of the Summit design team:

Even before the E-Revo made it's debut as an electric racing monster truck, we had ideas for using the platform to create the ultimate all-terrain monster with a ton of suspension travel that could just do anything--just a big, tough four-wheeler.

That's from the Summit review in the March 2009 issue of RC Car Action.

I had forgotten about those Revo builds! I'm sure Steve's experience building those trucks was referenced when the Summit was being developed.
