Summit Crawling on a 2.2 Crawler course

I ran somebody's summit on the 2.2 crawling area at my local racetrack inbetween my slash races, and it did much better than the other guys' venom creepers and ax10s. here's the vid. sorry about the crappy quality, HQ should be up soon, but it was kinda dark in the building. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL0PzmPHgTQ

Need to see that again, but against the ax 10's and venoms you spoke of. Rip rap is far from a crawler course. I counted no less than 20 back ups. at 2:31, got hung on a single rock, just trying to get on the rocks. The line you were taking at 2:52, my ax 10 would eat that for breakfast. And at the end, 3:42, again hung on a single rock. As I said though, rip rap is far from a course. My ax will push them rocks around and flip them over as I crawl them. I hate using rip rap as a course cause of it. It did look like alot of fun though, Just need to see it out on bigger rocks.

to me, it sounded like it was in low, but didnt look like it.

thanks for the video. Im learning more and more that the summit is still too top heavy.. I know Malibu removed the Exo Cage, I wonder if it made a big difference or not.

Does the summit still look good without the exo-cage?

I was not trying to do a course, as there were no gates out. I was just seeing how it did on the same areas that the 2.2s run on. Also, the 2.2s were failing at crawling, as the rocks were extremely dusty. I was in low gear most of the time, but there were times when there was just not enough wheel speed.

The reason it was doin good was because how big it is. The summit is awesome but of course it is going to do good on something that is for a smaller scale.

X2, had there been a Clod, TXT, or even a modded Maxx/Revo that had the front and rear bulkheads/suspension locked into solid axles, you've probably have seen different results.

right, size is a big thing, and depending on the course, bigger stuff has a serious advantage. you have better wheelbase for reaching stuff, wider for stability, and the big tires grab stuff easier. but still, its sweet.

That is kind of like a fat kig bragging about beating up a scrawny kid, the tires on that thing are at least twice the size of a 2.2. How about going against a super class?

I think it would do really well with some different rubber actually. Those of you that crawl know how a good set of tires can make all the difference on a rig. I don't know about the Traxxas tires, but, and I'm just guessing, they went with a thick tire that will work well for a long time. If you went to a softer, cralwer styled tire, I think that it would hook up a lot better.

Some minor things could also help it crawl better, but may cost during general bashing. Softer foam inserts is the first thing that comes to mind.

Oh, and by the way, it did look good crawling and I think the blue looked good. I am so waiting for Friday, now officially known as SUMMIT DAY!!!

I know it is not as good as some of the crawlers out there, I was just driving it around, and kinda showing you guys how well it crawls. for what it is (an extreme terrain MT, not a crawler), it does quite well
